As I walked into the dining room, I noticed that Jake was sitting at the table by himself… eating the bread that I had
made.
“Celine…” he greeted me with a grin before waving his hand and motioning for me toe closer to him.
“Hey… where’s Mr. Anderson?”
“He went back to his room. He said he was going to wake up Aunt Olivia…” he responded as he took a bite out of the

pushing the te in front of me and handing me a ss of cold water.
“Okay! I’ll give it a try!” I eximed, and was about to take a piece of bread from the te, but I was able to see out of
the corner of my eye that a person dressed in a suit who I knew very well had entered the
dining room
As a result, I bent over and bit down on the half piece of bread that Jake was still biting. The passage of time came to a
screeching halt, and as Jake let go of the bread in his hand and dropped it on the table, I pretended not to notice what
had happened.

front door with her backpack in tow.
“Hey! Hold on just a second!” Jake yelled as he took the final chunk of bread and drank the
cold water before jogging towards us. “I’ll drop you guys off!”
“Jake, you don’t have to send them to school…” I was climbing in the back passenger seat
when I was startled by Brylee’s voicein from behind him. I frowned and paused in my
ascent.
