Chapter 322
At the police station, in Nathaniel’s detention room, the creak of the door echoed through the room and someone walked in.
Nathaniel, sitting on the edge of the bed, looked up anxiously. His eyes widened in both shock and disappointment as he saw who hade.
It was Alice. She was wearing a long ck coat and carried a square ck leather branded bag in the crook of her arm.
She shut the door behind her, isting them from the outside world. She stepped forward, her posturemanding and authoritative.
Nathaniel hurried over and reached out to grab her hand. Her presence was a small glimmer of hope; perhaps she could help himmunicate with the outside world.
“Alice, I need your help with something very important…” he pleaded.
But Alice extended her arm to fend off his approach, took a seat, and said coldly, “I’m here about you. Let’s talk.”
Nathaniel was stunned for a moment before he quickly came over and sat down opposite her.
“My dear, Alice, please go to the Reed family and help me send a message,” he said.
Disgust shed across Alice’s eyes. After being father and daughter for so many years, this was the first time he had called her “dear.”
In the past, she had begged him to call her that.
It was only at this time that she would have some weight in his heart as her daughter.
“The Reed family is already on the ne, flying to Elbonia,” she said bluntly.
Nathaniel jerked and looked up at her in disbelief.
“Your personal savings, funds, stocks, and real estate have all been converted to foreign currency and transferred to your ex–wife and her family. Your rtives in your hometown have also received substantial amounts. They are set for life.”
Her gaze hardened. Wrapped in a pitch–ck coat, her skin was a cold, pale white, and she exuded an aura of icy cruelty.
“This is what you’ve always dreamed of, to have the Reed family live a high–ss life. You love your ex–wife and children so much, as well as your little grandson. For them, you’re willing to make any sacrifice,” she added.
Havingpletely recognized the current situation, Nathaniel copsed in his chair. After being arrested, he knew that he might be finished. The arrest had drained him, making him appear older than his years. His once–dark hair was now nearly entirely white.
He sighed deeply and looked at her coldly. “It’s you…”
He had long anticipated this day and had made arrangements for his family’s escape.
Only Alice, knowing the Reed family’s situation better, could have arranged for his ex–wife and children to leave so quickly
At the same time, it cut off his path of survival, choking off a
My chance he had.
“I’m your father! How can you do this?” he demanded, his voice trembling.
“Father?” Aliceughed bitterly, her expression a mix of sarcasm and deep–seated resentment. “Back then, I knelt in the pouring rain and begged you. It was fine if you didn’t allow me to enter the Reed family to acknowledge my ancestors. I was willing to remain an illegitimate daughter as long as you admitted I was your child. But what did you do?”
She sat up straight and red at him aggressively. Her eyes were dark and cold, and the smile on her face dissipated, leaving only hatred and ruthlessness. Her face became even more twisted.
This was the first time Nathaniel had seen her like this. He leaned against the back of the chair, his eyes filled with shock.
He did not expect her to have such a terrifying side.
“If murder weren’t against thew, and there were no consequences or damage to your reputation, would you kill me and make me disappear from this world?” she asked.
“Of course not!” Nathaniel denied it immediately. “Alice, I’m not that despicable.”
Alice sneered again. “Not that despicable? Nathaniel, do you know what kind of life my mother and I have lived because of you? Just because you refused to acknowledge me as your daughter, my mother was forced to marry a gambling addict. He handed my mother over to those men to pay off his debts…”

At this point, her eyes were filled with pain and madness.
C
“That’s why, my mother fell ill and died. As for me, if I wasn’t too young and hadn’t had the help of a teacher, I would have ended up like her! You’re the most disgusting human on earth I’ve ever seen!”
“That’s because your mother deserved it!” Nathaniel blurted out, defending himself. “Who the hell was your mother? She even tried to threaten me with her pregnancy. I told her to get rid of…”
Looking at the imposing woman in front of him, he did not continue with the rest of his sentence.
“At that time, I had a wife and children. I gave her generouspensation. It was her own greed that led to this. I couldn’t be threatened by her. If it were you, you’d make the same choice I did, and you’d do it more decisively, wouldn’t you?” He held his hands up in front of him, indicating that she should see her current state. ? 2024 N?v/el/Dram/a.Org.
Based on what she had done today, if the same thing were in her hands, she would handle it even more ruthlessly.
Alice’s mother was a small model. At that time, the entertainment industry was not so developed. Models who were not famous could not survive at
all.
After meeting Nathaniel, she gave birth to her and passed away early after enduring a series of tragedies.
“Do you think my mother is dirty and cheap, only capable of tarnishing your reputation? But what about when you were enjoying yourself with her? Nathaniel, did someone force you?” she questioned loudly.
His face stiffened and turned ashen.
“Alice, didn’t I acknowledge you?” His voice softened, pleading.
He had to win her over and seek a chance of survival.”
“Acknowledge me?” Alice sneered sarcastically again. “If it weren’t for my outstanding results and my own achievements that are useful to you, would you have acknowledged me?”
“Nathaniel,” she leaned forward, approaching him. Her voice lowered but
was
very forceful.
“Why did
you acknowledge me?”
It was he who asked her to take over Lea’s Hypnosis case.
If she seeded, it would be a significant help, and the credit would
go to him
If she failed, she might not even be able to keep her life.
“Why didn’t you arrange for your eldest son to handle this? He’s as good a psychiatrist
I am,” she
asked.
They were both his biological children, yet the sacrifices Nathaniel made for his ex–wife and their children spoke volumes.
He knew that once what he did was exposed, his entire family would definitely suffer. The people he was loyal to might not let them off either.
Therefore, he divorced his ex–wife early on, but he left all the assets he had umted to them. He even secretly used his connections and resources to help them develop.
“Just because his mother came from a more noble
ckground?” Her eyes were filled with jealousy and hatred.
Why did she and her mother have to suffer such a huge difference in treatment just because of their backgrounds? Did they deserve to die because they came from inferior backgrounds?
“Alice!” Looking at her deep hatred, he panicked. “I was wrong. I let you and your mother down. In the future, […
“Nathaniel, I’m not here to reminisce with you.” In an instant, Alice had regained herposure, as if what had just happened had not affected her
at all.
She didn’t care about these things anymore. All she cared about was the gains and losses.
“You know the rules, and you understand the consequences better than I do.” She stood up with a cold expression and handed him a phone. There was a photo on it.
The photo was taken on the ne.
An elegant woman in her fifties was holding a three–year–old boy, who was her grandson. Her son and daughter–inw stood beside her, and the whole family was smiling brightly.
“Dad, it’s a good deal, isn’t it?” she said.
He used his life to exchange for the lives of his family and the entire Reed family of about fifty people.

“This is my help to you. You can be heartless, but I still have some integrity.” With that, Alice stood up and left.
When she reached the door, she looked back at the old man who was slumped in the chair and did not struggle at all. A dark glint shed across her
