Chapter 300

    300: FRAGILE LIFE

    ARIEL’S POV

I sat down on one of the benches in the hospital waiting area, and I took a deep breath, trying to calm

my nerves. Pulling out my phone, I decided to distract myself by scrolling through some videos on

    social media.

After a few minutes, I remembered Janice and decided to give her a call. I dialed her number, but she

didn’t pick up. Chuckling softly to myself, I knew she was probably still fast asleep. Janice always loved

    her beauty sleep.

As I was about to put my phone away, I noticed ady, older than me, sitting on the bench. nearby.

Tears filled her eyes, and her hands trembled slightly as she clutched a tissue.

Concerned, I moved closer to her. “Excuse me, ma’am, is everything okay?”

The woman looked up at me, her eyes red and puffy from crying. “No, everything’s not okay, * she

replied, her voice trembling. “My husband had a heart attack. He’s in critical condition.

My heart sank as I listened to her words, and I reached out to ce aforting hand on her shoulder.

“I’m so sorry to hear that. Is there anything I can do to help?”

    She shook her head, tears streaming down her face. “I don’t know… I just… I don’t know

    what to do.”

I squeezed her shoulder gently, offering whateverfort I could. “It’s going to be okay. The doctors

here are experts, and they’ll do everything they can to help your husband.”

She nodded, wiping away her tears with the tissue. “Thank you,” she whispered, her voice barely

    audible.

Feeling a pang of empathy for the woman, I sat with her for a while, offering silent support as she

grappled with her emotions. In that moment, I realized how fragile life could be and. how important it

was to cherish the moments we had with our loved ones.

So I needed to cherish every moment now with my little girl, and Luke, and all the loved ones present

at the moment. Lukel left me so soon, and it was something I couldn’t predict. It was heartbreaking

realizing that he would no longer be here with me. I missed him in every single way.

And to also add the fact that I missed my father as well, who died, without me having any

knowledge about it for quite a long time. It was really painful, no tie about the

Then there was Luke, who had lost almost all his beloved ones. His grandfather, his father, his cousin,

his son. And he had been through a lot, trying to amend the broken pieces. The heart being shattered

into a million pieces, but he still stood strong, trying his best not to get too affected by the traumatic

    events

Yes, he smiled daily. He joked around, here and there. Heughed asionally, but the presence were

still there within him, within us. The memories were all present, the great and wonderful moments stuck

in our head. But this was just life, and I kept on repeating this, we never hope for a temble future. We

just had to live every single moment, counting each second, and relishing all the scenes taking ce

Still sitting there, lost in my thoughts, the woman’s shaky voice broke through my reverie. Excuse me,

dear, what brings you to the hospital?” she asked, her tone filled with genuine

    concern.

I blinked, refocusing on the present moment. “Oh, um, I brought in an unconscious man,” I exined,

gesturing vaguely towards the emergency room. “I’m waiting for the doctors to give me some feedback

    on his condition.”

Her expression softened, sympathy evident in her eyes. “I hope he’ll be okay,” she said

    softly.

“Yeah, me too,” I replied, my voice tinged with uncertainty. “I don’t know him personally, but… I just

hope he gets better and recovers.”

The woman looked surprised. “You brought him in even though you don’t know him?”

I nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of my lips. “Yeah, my husband actually found him and

brought him here. He’s the real hero in all of this.”

She reached out and squeezed my hand gently. “You’re both heroes in my book. Not everyone would

go out of their way to help a stranger.”

I shook my head, feeling a wave of humility wash over me. “It’s nothingpared to what my husband

did. He’s the one who acted quickly and made sure the man got the help he

    needed.”

The woman’s eyes sparkled with admiration. “Well, you’re both remarkable individuals. The world could

    use more people like you.”

I smiled gratefully, but deep down, I knew all the credit belonged to Luke. He did pretty well, helping the

man, willing to hurt himself. He was getting better day and day. And I was

loving him more and more every single day.

    LUKE’S POV

I stopped my car in front of the towering gates of my mansion and stepping out, the gravel crunched

beneath my shoes. I hurriedly made my way towards the entrance.

“Morning, Marcus,” I called out to my gateman, who stood tall and vignt beside the gate.

“Good morning, boss,” Marcus replied with a respectful nod.

    I

I smiled and nodded back, appreciating his diligence. Passing through the gate, I entered

the sprawling mansion grounds, my footsteps echoing against the marble pathway.

Entering the living room, I was greeted by chaos. My two little rascals, Randy and Ethan, were

engaged in a yful wrestling match, while toys and cushions were strewn across the floor. Well, I

    came prepared for this.

“Stephanie!” I called out, since she was the one who called me on the phone earlier.

Stephanie hurried over, a worried expression on her face. “Mr. Luke, I’m d you’re here,” she said,

relief evident in her voice. “I can’t seem to get these two to settle down.”

I chuckled, shaking my head at the sight. “Randy, Ethan, enough of that,” I called out firmly, pping

my hands to get their attention.

The boys froze, looking up at me with wide eyes.

“It’s not safe to be doing this, you know. One of you might get injured, or something.”

“But it’s fun,” Ethan told me.

“Exactly!” Randy agreed. “Running around, jumping with the awesome moves like Rey Mysterio. This is

    actually worth it.”

“Oh my gosh,” Stephanie muttered, shaking her head as she hit her face. “This is going to be a tough

    one, sheined silently.

“No, it’s not,” I spoke to her.

    Sheposed herself immediately. “I’m sorry

sír. I didn’t know you can hear me.”

“It’s okay,” I said and turned to Ethan and Randy. “It is fun. I won’t lie to you two about that. But it can

really be dangerous in different ways. You can break an ankle, break your arm, or even worse, you

might get a broken neck. And trust me, you do not want that happening to

    you.

“That sounds bad,” Ethan told me.

“Oh, it’s really really bad. I uttered immediately. “Even professional wrestlingpanies. advices you

not to try any of their scenes at home. Why? Because they know the pain it can cause. So you two are

going to promise me that you won’t do this from now on. Okay?”

    “Okay, we promise.”

“Good, now you guys can clean this ce up. Stephanie Wi assist the both of you.”

“Okay, kids. Come along.” Stephanie held both of their shoulders and three of them walked

    away. I smiled, watching them.

“Luke, you really ditched me yesterday, didn’t you?”

My mother’s voice resounded in the living room and I turned around to look at her.
