Chapter 235
Chapter 235
“I can’t believe those words came out of your mouth. All those etiquette sses i paid for were they for
nothing?” Mrs. Walker gritted her teeth in anger.
“Mom, I’m sorry. I was wrong” Candy sobbed, covering her face. “Next time, could you just p my left
cheek, please? My right side is numb.
Her left cheek was animated while the right side of her face was stiff, making her look both pitiable and
ridiculous.
“Apologize to Mrs. Chadwick right now. And you better show some respect, or we’ll cut ties with you”
Mrs. Walker warned.
Candy cried even harder Tim sorry, Gwendolyn. Il never speak ill of you again. The thing with Jack, it
was all my fault. You can p me, scold me, anything”
Candy knew that Gwendolyn had some kind of healing touch for her facial paralysis.
But she had seriously offended Gwendolyn, and how did this country girl have such influence?
“Why would you do such a thing to me? We have no quamels,” Gwendolyn asked

Choking back tears, Candy replied, “Selina is my best friend. I wanted you to divorce Howard, so I
thought I could ckmail you with pictures. I swear I didn’t hire anyone to hurt you”
Gwendolyn’s anger surged. “Did you ever stop to think about how those photos could shatter my
reputation?”
I’m truly sorry” Candy wept with genuine remorse.
Valor snorted, “Crocodile tears. You and your so–called best friend are cut from the same cloth.”
Candy hurriedly exined. “I did it behind Selina’s back, and she didn’t know anything”
Mrs. Walker shot a disappointed nce at her daughter and said, “Mrs. Chadwick, the Walker family is
prepared to make amends privately, whatever it takes, within our means.”
The Walker family was after a letter of forgiveness.
At that moment, Howard finally spoke up. “Mrs. Walker, is that all?”
His eyes seemed to see night through her.
Mrs. Walker had hoped to negotiate slowly, not to offend the Chadwicks, but Howard saw through her
ploy
“There’s another matter. Dr. Yates from acupuncture suggested that you, Mrs. Chadwick, might heal
Candy’s paralysis with your gifted hands. We would be grateful if you could help.”
“You Walkers always have an angle,” Howard sneered, “Gwendolyn’s help isn’t cheap anymore.”
“Of course, Mrs. Walker braced herself to pay whatever the cost, even if it meant half of her fortune.
“Gwendolyn, Ill never speak ill of you again. If you say go east, I won’t dare go west Candy pleaded
pitifully, knowing the value of a girl’s face.
Everyone turned to Gwendolyn, waiting for her decision.
Gwendolyn bit her lip, her fingers curling and then rxing. “I can write the letter of forgiveness, and I
can treat your condition. But I have one condition.”
“Name it.” Mrs. Walker brightened up. “Anything at all.”
Gwendolyn, recalling Howard mentioning the Walkers‘ wealth, stated firmly. “Revamp the infrastructure
in Honeysuckle Hollow.”
“That’s easy,” Mrs. Walker eximed.
“And..” Gwendolyn locked eyes with her, “Ten percent of the Walker Group’s annual profits go to
charity”
She was pushing her luck, testing Mrs. Walker’s limits.
“Agreed. I’ll make the financial reports public and donate the profits to the Ster Crescent Foundation,
to be managed by you and Mr. Chadwick. Any other conditions?”
Gwendolyn shook her head, “That’s it.”
“That’s it?” Mrs. Walker offered eagerly. “I could also donate to fifty new schools, Mrs. Chadwick, how
does that sound?”
Her demeanor was overly solicitous, almost to the point of groveling, which even shocked Valor.
Gwendolyn nodded, her tone softening. “Fine.”
