    She looked at Sanford, her voice tinged with emotion, “Mr. Hamilton, I was taught in school that a


    doctor’s duty is to heal and revere life. They didn’t teach me to be conniving. and deceitful. I’m sorry. I


    haven’t learned that lesson yet.”


    Sanford inexplicably clenched his heart, a pain that took him a moment to recover from.


    He didn’t know why he felt sad with a twinge of guilt when Gwendolyn exined.
