Chapter 117
Chapter 117
At a private suite in Bayridge Hospital.
Warren had made it through the worst of his illness, but he was a shade of his former self, his face
ashen as he leaned weakly against the headboard. The usual spark in his eyes had dimmed
considerably.
Bainbridge and Jarvis exchanged knowing nces. With a hint of reluctance, Bainbridge poured a
ss of warm water for Warren, “Grandpa, have some water.”
Warren shook his head feebly, “I don’t want it.”
Suppressing his resentment, Bainbridge pressed, “Ever since you’ve beenid up, our group’s been
like a ship without a captain. Howard is breathing down our necks, he’ll swallow us whole if we’re not
careful.”
Jarvis chimed in, “Dad, you didn’t mean what you said at the birthday bash, did you?”
Jarvis and Bainbridge were ying a well–rehearsed duet.
Warren felt a deep sense of defeat and slowly closed his eyes, “I know what you two are after. As the
chairman, I’ll issue the appointments. Jarvis as president of the Chadwick Group, and Bainbridge as
vice president.”
Bainbridge, barely able to conceal his impatience, demanded, “How about the chairmanship? What
about the 30% shares?”
Were they being withheld?
Bainbridge was after real power!
From Warren’s demeanor, it was clear he wasn’t ready to let go.
“In time, once I’m feeling better,” Warren said, a chill of destion in his heart. He had always been
strong–willed, but now his legacy was at risk.
“Grandpa!” Bainbridge had never anticipated his grandfather’s change of heart.
“Dad, Bainbridge is clearly the best choice. Howard is not one of us,” Jarvis tried to hide his anger as
he spoke.
Warren shut his eyes tighter, “I want to sleep now. Leave me.”
“Grandpa, you really…”
H
“Bainbridge, let’s go. Let him rest,” Jarvis said, pulling Bainbridge towards the door.
The two men left the hospital room.

Once outside, Bainbridge darkened his face and shouted, “What is my grandpar thinking? Is he
backing out? Does he intend to leave everything to that cripple?”
Jarvis was stormy as he replied, “Nothing’s set in stone yet. We still have a shot. Howard is ame
duck, and Jameson is too weak and blindly fil. We might even capitalize on Summit Corp in the
future.”
“With Howard’s current wealth, could he find Enoch?” Bainbridge asked through clenched teeth, his
anger palpable.
*Impossible,” Jarvis said with certainty, “Who is Enoch? Don’t forget the Lopez family still has a
vegetable, and they’ve been desperate to find Enoch!”
He spoke with patience, “Now, you go to the Sawyer family and secure our position They’re our lifeline,
providing us with a steady flow of funds.”
Bainbridge nodded, “Alright, I’m on it.”
His face twisted with malice, he walked down the hospital corridor.
As he reached the hospital entrance, he ran into Gwendolyn, back from her leave.
What a coincidence!
Bainbridge smirked maliciously, blocking her path, “Is thedy of the president of Summit Corp still
clocking in for a few bucks to care for the sick?”

Gwendolyn pursed her lips and tried to step around him.
Undeterred, Bainbridge grabbed her arm, “Feeling brave yesterday, weren’t you? Daring to humiliate
me. What gives a country girl like you the right?”
Gwendolyn struggled free from his grip, her face set coldly, “The contents of the invitation were all true.
I merely read them aloud.”
Bainbridge scoffed, “Do you think you can rely on that cripple? Too bad he’s not long for this world.” He
warned her, “You better mind your business. Do you think you mean anything to Howard? It won’t be
long before he tosses you aside.”
He looked down on her with a disdain that carried an inexplicable confidence.
Gwendolyn responded calmly, “Lifespan Locust Pharmacy was reported and shut down, and Waldo is
on the run, fearing poisoning charges. If the police catch him, will he reveal who’s really behind it all?”
