Jimmy was drunk, and his words lost their usual filter.
The crowd erupted in raucousughter.
At that, with a look of fury, Valor mmed his ss down on the floor with a resounding crash.
The amber liquid and shards of ss sttered everywhere.
“Jimmy! Shut the hell up. Watch your damn mouth!” Valor stood up, his face flushed with anger, and
knocked over the pyramid of champagne flutes on the table.
Clink, crash, bang!
Dozens of sses toppled to the floor.
“Valor, have you lost your freaking mind! Can’t you see you’re nothing but Howard’s.pdog? He’s
fallen from grace, and you’re the only one upset, still singing his praises on Facebook!” Jimmy howled
with derision.
Valor grabbed him by the cor andnded a solid punch to his face. “Dwarf, who are you calling a
lapdog? Repeat it. I dare you!”
“Valor, you’re out of your mind!” Standing at five–foot–three, Jimmy had been mockingly nicknamed
‘dwarf, which drove him mad every time he heard it.
The two quickly came to blows, with Valor delivering punch after punch, his rage unmistakable. Jimmy
stood no chance against him.
From the sidelines, Bainbridge watched the spectacle with an evil grin. “Someone knocks Valor down a
peg, then toss him out! He’s been off my team for a while now.”
His cronies rolled up their sleeves and descended upon Valor, pummeling him with fists.
and feet.
“Don’t kill the guy,” someone off–handedly remarked.
Bainbridge and Vivien, arm in arm, sipped on their red wine.
Vivien said, “Just the booze–talking and young folks sorting out their troubles. Not our ce to step in.”
Roughed up and dragged, Valor was thrown out the door.
The grand entrance of the banquet hall slowly closed before him.
“Coward! Fool!” Valor shouted, his face swollen and bruised, cursing at the closed doors, “You just wait
until Howard returns. He’ll make you pay.”
Fumbling for his phone, he called Howard, his eyes welling up as the call connected.

“Who beat you?” he inquired calmly.
With tears streaming down his face, Valor replied pitifully, “Bainbridge’s goons. There were too many to
remember. They nearly killed me.”
In a threatening tone, Valor blurted out, “You nning revenge? If you don’t spill it, I’ll go find a woman,
and soon the whole town will know I’ve still got it!”
Howard responded coldly, “Then go find one.”
“You’re threatening me! What, you’ll castrate me if I do!” Valor cried in pain, gasping for air. between
sobs.
“Goodbye,” Howard said curtly and ended the call.
Gwendolyn covered her mouth to stifle herughter. “Mr. Peterson is such a character.” She set her
suitcase aside. “Mr. Chadwick, I’ve packed everything. We’ll head back to Bayridge City in the
morning.”
She also packed a box of medical textbooks with her.
Finally, she pulled out a bottle from the bottom shelf of the bookcase. “Mr. Chadwick, I promised you
this. Back in the countryside, I’ll let you get a taste of this tonic.”
Howard’s gaze darkened as he looked at her. “Are you sure?”
“It’s for improving cirction. A small amount should be fine.”
After half a month of medicinal baths, hisplexion had improved significantly. Logically, it was time
for his legs to attempt standing again..
“We’ll save the tonic for when we return to Bayridge City,” he said indifferently. “Gwendolyn, I have
something for you.”
Gwendolyn watched, her face flushing with heat, as his hand reached under the pillow.
In her mind, the images of “happy wife, happy life” and “pleasing your wife is an art” surfaced, leaving
her in a flustered state.
