Frowning, Sophia reached for her phone, hoping to find a message from Alexander exining his
sudden departure. Yet, to her dismay, there were no notifications from him. Her mind raced with
questions, wondering where he could have gone and why he hadn’t told her.
Just as her frustration began to mount, a message from her best friend, Evelyn, lit up her screen. A
small smile tugged at Sophia’s lips as she read the invitation to meet for coffee. Maybe spending time
with Evelyn would help take her mind off her worries.
Sophia quickly got dressed and made her way to their favorite café, where Evelyn was already waiting
for her, a steaming cup of coffee in hand. As Sophia approached, she couldn’t help but notice the
furrow of concern on Evelyn’s brow.
“Hey,” Evelyn greeted, her voice tinged with concern. “You look like you could use some caffeine.”
Sophia nodded gratefully as she took a seat across from her friend. “Thanks,” she replied, reaching for
the cup and taking a grateful sip. “It’s been a strange morning.”
Evelyn raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. “Strange how?”
Sophia sighed, her gaze falling to the table as she recounted the events of the morning. “Alexander left
without saying anything,” she exined, frustration evident in her voice. “And he’s been acting so
secretivetely. It’s starting to drive me crazy.”
Evelyn nodded sympathetically, her own frustrations evident. “Tell me about it,” she replied, her tone
laced with exasperation. “Kyle’s been acting the same waytely. It’s like he’s hiding something, but
whenever I ask, he just brushes it off.”
Sophia sighed, knowing exactly how Evelyn felt. “Why do you think they’re being so secretive?” she
wondered aloud, her brow furrowing in frustration.
Evelyn shrugged, a puzzled expression crossing her features. “I wish I knew,” she admitted, her voice
tinged with frustration. “But whatever it is, I’m not going to let it ruin our day. We deserve some girl
time.”
Sophia smiled, grateful for Evelyn’s friendship and the distraction it offered. “You’re right,” she agreed,
determination shining in her eyes. Let’s enjoy our coffee and forget about our secretive boyfriends for
now.”
Sophia had spent the entire day immersed in her work, trying her best to push aside the troubling
thoughts that had been guing her. She didn’t want to dwell on Alexander’s strange behavior or her
grandfather’s secrets. But as she finally arrived home, exhausted and drained from the day’s events,
she was met with yet another unsettling surprise.
Alexander was nowhere to be found.
Anxiety gripped Sophia’s chest as she scanned the empty apartment, her mind racing with questions
and doubts. Where could he be? Why hadn’t he told her he was leaving again? Frustration and worry
gnawed at her, threatening to overwhelm her senses.
As the minutes turned into hours, Sophia’s agitation only grew. It was well past midnight when
Alexander finally returned home, his footsteps echoing through the silent apartment. Sophia’s relief at
his arrival quickly turned to anger as she saw the telltale signs of histe-night escapade.
Her patience worn thin, Sophia wasted no time in confronting him. “Where have you been?” she
demanded, her voice tinged with frustration. “And why do you keep hiding things from me?”
Alexander’s expression faltered, his eyes widening in surprise at her usation. “I-I…” he stammered,
clearly caught off guard by her directness.
Sophia’s anger red as she pressed him for answers. “Do you have another woman?” she demanded,
her tone sharp with usation.
Alexander’s shock quickly turned to disbelief. “What? No!” he eximed, shaking his head vehemently.
“That’s not it at all.”
Sophia felt a pang of guilt at her usation, but her frustration outweighed her remorse. “Then what is
it?” she demanded, her voice softer but no less insistent.
“I promised not to tell,” Alexander admitted.
“Don’t tell who?” Sophia pressed him, her eyebrows furrowing in concern.
Alexander chuckled nervously. ” Nobody warns you about the questioning you’re going to get when
you’re in a rtionship with awyer.”
Sophia’s expression remained serious. ” It’s not funny to me, Alexander. Tell me what’s going on. Are
we done with secrets?” Her tone was firm, demanding rity.
Alexander’sughter faded as he sensed the gravity of Sophia’s words. “I understand,” he replied, his
voice more serious now. “I promised Kyle that I wouldn’t say anything.”
Sophia’s concern deepened as she listened. “Promised Kyle what?” she prodded, her curiosity piqued.
Taking a deep breath, Alexander finally confessed, “He wants to propose to Evelyn.”
Sophia’s anger melted away in an instant, reced by a surge of joy and excitement. “Oh my gosh,
really?” she eximed, a wide smile spreading across her face.
Alexander nodded, relief evident in his expression. “Yes, really,” he confirmed, a hint of amusement in
his voice.
Sophia’s heart swelled with happiness as she realized the significance of the moment. “I want to help,”
she dered, determination shining in her eyes. “Let’s make this the most amazing proposal ever.”
