I threw a long, hard look at Louis, knowing full well that he’d continue to pester me if I didn’t deal with
this situation in front of him.
I didn’t need this kind of trouble in my life.
I made a quick call, requesting the folks on the other end to wrap things up.
A wider grin spread across Louis’ face.
“Alright, that’s settled. Now, about Malinda…” Louis wasn’t done, I knew it. He asked, “Did you arrange
for her to go back to her hometown?”
“I wouldn’t know,” I replied, my face devoid of any expression. “Don’t bother asking me; you won’t get
any leads here.”

“I already know where she is. I just wanted to confirm it with you. We all have precious time to save,
don’t we?” Louis had a thick skin for sure, stating his intentions so bluntly.
So he wasn’t entirely sure where Malinda was.
‘I scoffed, “Then asking me pointless. I don’t know, If you want to find Malinda, go ahead. To me, she
was just a pawn, nothing more. We never saw eye to eye in the past, so whatever you n to do with

children? I hear you’re with Russel and have two kids, right?”
His words ignited a fury within me. I could tolerate a lot, but not when it came to threats against my
family, especially my children.
“Louis, you’re crossing a line. We have no grievances against each other. If you dare to go against my
family, I promise you’ll regret it!” I stood up, grabbed a ss of water from the table, and sshed it on
Louis’ face.
The water seemed to stoke his anger. He wiped his face, stood up and pointed at me. “If it weren’t for
you, Bonnie wouldn’t be in prison! She was carrying my child, but she lost it!”
This revtion caught me by surprise. I remembered Bonnie wanting to be with Neil, dreaming about
marrying into the Whitmore family. How did she end up pregnant with Louis’ child?

My disgust for Louis and Bonnie reached new heights.
“Louis, you’re truly disgusting. Stay away from me in future. If you love Bonnie so much, why don’t you
stay celibate for her until she gets out from prison?” I looked at him with repulsion. He was a man
who’d set up his girlfriend and betray his best friend by sleeping with his girlfriend’s friend.
He and Bonnie must have been up to something, otherwise they wouldn’t have conspired against
Malinda.
Irritated by my words, Louis’ face turned even more sour. Afraid he might get physical, I decided to
leave.
As I opened the door to leave, someone grabbed a handful of my hair. The sudden pain made me
gasp.
“You wretch! You caused the death of my child, and you dare to insult me? I’ll make you regret it today!”
Louis was like a man possessed, spewing vile words and acting brutally.
I was no match for him. He pushed me hard against the table and I couldn’t move.
“Do you know? Neil still can’t forget you. If he finds out that I’ve had you, he’ll probably go insane.
Russel is one, and I’m another. His buddies got a great deal.” Louis ripped off his genteel mask,
revealing his savage and shameless side.
I never expected him to stoop so low. He was a beast!
“Was Neil not good enough for you? You want to take revenge on him so you’re doing this to me?” I
tried to stay calm and grasp the main point. It seemed like Louis was more interested in making Neil
suffer than taking revenge on me.
What could have possibly happened between him and Neil?
“He was good to me? What kind of good? Everything he has should have been mine!” Louis shouted
uncontrobly.
What did he mean by that?
I suddenly remembered a piéce of gossip I’d read. It was about Ryan having an illegitimate child. Could
Louis be that child? Could it be true?
I was stunned and couldn’t react. Meanwhile, Louis was already starting to tear my clothes. My phone
had fallen on the floor and I couldn’t call Russel. Just as my clothes were about to be ripped apart, I
saw a ss on the table. I reached out and grabbed it. Louis was too busy assaulting me to notice. I
didn’t n to hit him directly with the ss. If I didn’t knock him out, I’d end up worse.
1 grabbed the ss and swung my arm back as hard as I could, smashing it against the door. The
shattering sound echoed in the room. Anyone passing by would hear it.
I hoped it was a waiter who coulde in and check on us.
“Help!” I screamed.
But Louis quickly covered my mouth, and I could barely breathe.
Just when I thought all hope was lost, the door opened. I felt a sudden release on my back. Louis was
pulled away and punched to the ground.
I sat there, clutching my torn clothes, watching Neilnd punch after punch on Louis. Karina and Hiram
stood at the door, their faces a mixture of shock and confusion.
How did they end up here? I thought Russel heard my screams.

Just then, Russel appeared. He first nced at me, then at Neil who was still beating Louis. His eyes
were cold and terrifying.
Neil was still assaulting Louis, so Russel didn’t intervene. He came over, held me tightly in his arms,
and shielded my tattered clothes from view.
A few waiters rushed in, shocked by the chaos. They tried to intervene, but Neil wouldn’t stop. Finally,
Karina stepped in and grabbed his blood-soaked hand. “Enough! Do you want to kill him?!”
“Dad, stop!” Hiram cried out, frightened.
Neil finally regained some semnce of sanity, slowly rising to his feet, while Louisy on the ground,
his face a gruesome mask of blue and purple bruises, smeared with blood.
Despite his condition, Louis was stillughing, “Neil, bet you didn’t see thising, did you? Your girl
was pinned under me!”
