    "Get lost before I lose my temper. And stop embarrassing your father," Chloe retorted, her


    demeanor cold as ice.


    Ophelia chuckled tauntingly, "You''re so naive. I''m the delicate flower your father has pampered for


    over twenty years. Do you really think he''ll take your side? That’s never going to happen."

    "Are you taking her side, Dad? Did she drug you or something?" Keh could not believe it. His


    father, who had always doted on his sister, seemed to have changed.


    "Chloe has always been a gentle person. She wouldn''t act impulsively unless provoked."


    Noah had been drinking quite a bit. He appeared a little tipsy and his eyes had a tinge of redness


    around them. He looked harmless, but the coldness in his eyes sent shivers down one''s spine.


    Pausing for a moment, he softened his tone and said to Chloe, "Leave this to me. Go on upstairs."

    "Listen to Noah, Chloe,” Desmond urged. Through his eyes, he implied that she should not act


    recklessly.

    but steady footsteps reached her ears from behind.


    Chloe raised an eyebrow but did not turn to look. "When did the finance tycoon decide to be a


    sneaky thief?" she quipped.


    "I became a thief willingly," Joseph whispered into Chloe''s ear, embracing her tightly. His beautiful


    thin lips pressed against her delicate skin as he teasingly said, "After all, it’d be troublesome if Noah


    found out about our one-night affair, right?"


    “You seem quite clear about our status, knowing it was just a one-night affair. Yet, you still came


    looking for me?"


    "I’m here to pass you some medicine."


    "What medicine?"


    "I saw your medical report that states you’re having some swelling," replied Joseph. He stared at


    her with his deep eyes, a mischievous smile ying on his lips.
