    Chloe''s forehead glistened with cold sweat. The intense pain in her lower abdomen clouded her


    senses. She could only observe as several helpers hurriedly scurried about, unsure of what to do.


    When she regained consciousness, she struggled to open her eyes even halfway. The pain in her

    she watched as figures in white coats moved about around her.


    "Did you get through?"


    "No, Mr. Joseph''s phone is turned off."


    "Try calling his assistant."


    "I don''t have the assistant''s number."


    "I have it saved. Let me find it."


    "Hurry up, the patient''s condition is critical. We have to proceed with the surgery now, and we need


    a family member toe and sign this."


    "Mr. Lucas, Ms. Chloe was in an ident. She fell from the second floor. Can youe to the


    hospital? We can’t reach Mr. Joseph as his phone is switched off."


    Lucas, who was workingte in the office, was startled. He quicklyposed himself and said,


    "Take her to Hyacinth Hospital. I''ll make my way there immediately."


    Joseph had switched off his phone, so of course, they could not reach him. But he had left the


    moment he learned that Xavia was going intobor. He should have gone to the hospital to


    apany Xavia, and her delivery was taking ce at Hyacinth Hospital.


    If Joseph was there, they would surely be able to reach him immediately.

    Chloe remained in a semi-conscious state, aware of her surroundings but unable to respond or


    communicate. It felt as if her soul had detached from her body, drifting away from the situation.


    The ambnce quickly arrived at the hospital. The doctor handed the critical condition notification


    letter to Lucas and said, "Sign it. We have to proceed with the surgery now."


    Lucas swiftly signed his name as his brows furrowed in concern. "How serious is her condition? Is it


    critical?"


    "It is. The patient is experiencing significant bleeding, and both the mother and child are at great


    risk. You’d do well to prepare yourselves."


    Lucas was taken aback, and his hands trembled, causing the pen to slip from his grasp. He quickly


    called Joseph, but the cold automated voice repeated the same message, "The number you have


    dialed is currently switched off. Please try againter."


    Panic rising within him, Lucas dashed to the nurse’s station and inquired, "Excuse me, may I know


    where the patient Xavia Larson is?"


    "Xavia Larson... She has been taken to the delivery room. Head to the sixth floor and take a right


    after exiting the elevator."


    "Okay, thank you."


    Lucas followed the directions until he arrived at the entrance of the delivery room. Spotting a nurse


    coming out, he hurriedly approached her. "Excuse me, are there any family members visiting the


    patient named Xavia Larson?"


    The nurse thought for a moment and replied, "Yes, there is."


    Anxiously, Lucas asked, "Where are they?"


    "The restroom I think."


    Lucas hurriedly toward the restroom. Just as he got there, he collided with Megan, who had just


    finished using the toilet. She eximed in surprise and annoyance, "Watch where you''re going! Did


    you purposely bump into me, you pervert?"


    Lucas, not wanting to engage in an argument, tried to brush past her and enter the restroom to find


    the person he was looking for.

    "This is the women''s restroom. The men''s restroom is downstairs. You were trying to take


    advantage of me."


    Lucas nced up and realized his mistake. He saw that it was indeed the women''s restroom.


    Megan had recognized Lucas long ago and rolled her eyes in exasperation. "Where''s your boss?


    Xavia has already entered the delivery room, and he''s nowhere to be seen."


    Lucas was taken aback by the news. "Mr. Joseph didn''te here?"


    "I haven''t seen a trace of him. That’s why I’m asking you. Where is he?"
