Chapter 274
Carrying Avery in his arms, Cayden walked to the parking lot.
Avery leaned against his chest as if she did not have a care in the world.
Cayden''s trench coat covered Avery''s body, leaving only her head exposed. She peeped through the
gap to nce at the stoic man. The hostile look on Cayden''s face sent a chill down Avery''s spine,
causing her teeth to chatter.

The woman still could not stop blushing. She continuously wiggled ufortably underneath his coat.
“Cayden...” Avery sounded as if she was on the verge of tears.
The tough front she had put up earlier had vanished into thin air.
Avery had no idea why she cried when she saw him, but somehow, she failed to suppress her
emotions.
A burning heat started coursing through her veins, and the ufortable feeling caused her to lose
control of her body. The warmth in her was a stark contrast against the freezing weather.
She felt uneasy upon noticing the grim expression on Cayden''s face. In fact, she felt aggrieved.
As the chilly weather became more intense, the man tightened his hug and continued walking without
ncing at her.
The frail Avery curled up in Cayden''s chest as thetter carried her to the car.
After starting the engine, Xavier tilted his head and asked, “Mr. Moore, should we bring Ms. Rumpley to
the hospital or send her home?”
“I want to go home.” Avery felt sorry for herself when she realized Cayden did not pay much attention
to her.
Cayden clenched his jaw for a bit before answering Xavier, “Let''s go to Duke Hotel.”
Duke Hotel was a five-star hotel under Trident Group.
It was already two in the morning. Knowing that it was an urgent matter, Xavier sped on the road and
arrived at the hotel''s entrance in no time.
At this point, the drug caused Avery to be delirious and feel horrible. She continuously struggled
and rubbed her body against the man to seduce him.
Her disheveled appearance did not diminish her beauty for a bit, but the burning heat her body gave
out kept reminding Cayden she was probably drugged.
A hard glint shed across Cayden''s clear eyes upon recalling Dn''s bestial act. She knew what kind
of person Dn was, yet, she still went to meet him. Does she have no sense of danger? That man
would have taken advantage of her had I not arrived in time!
Cayden wished he could cut Dn into pieces whenever he thought of how thetter nearly vited
the love of his life.
The moment he stepped into the hotel while carrying Avery in his arms, the front desk manager walked
over.
The manager was dumbfounded when he saw a woman lying in his CEO''s arms but was prudent
enough to keep mum.
Initially, the manager wanted to lead them to a private suite, but Cayden waved his hand to stop him
from following. He then walked into the elevator with Avery.
“Let me go, Cayden...” Avery uttered in a raspy voice. She felt miserable as the drug continued to take
a toll on her body.
“You''re scared now, huh? Well, it''s toote!” Cayden nibbled on her ear.
His manly scent overwhelmed her nose. Avery could not help but take a whiff of it.
She eventually took a few more breaths. It was as if inhaling his scent could help dissipate the heat
from her body.
Cayden was aware of her behavior. Upon noticing the sweat droplets rolling down her chest, he
smirked. “Avery, look how raunchy you are. I should take a video of you to show you how you''re acting
now.”
Avery''s eyes darkened when she heard his sarcastic remark.
Feeling helpless, she could only look away to avoid making eye contact with him. How can I exin to
him that it''s out of my control? Nina will be in danger if I don''t do as Dn said.
Besides, she did call him for help during the most crucial moment, but his phone was off. What else
could I do?
Cayden thought Avery looked away because she was embarrassed to face him. He could not help but
start developing mixed feelings.
A corner of the man''s lips quirked up. “So you were desperate for another man''s touch because I failed
to satisfy your needs when I was away for a couple of days, huh? I never knew you were so raunchy!”
His words chilled Avery to the bone. She shuddered at his ruthless usation.
She stared into his eyes in disbelief.
Seeing veins popping out on his face, Avery expressed her disappointment, “Is that how you think of
me, Cayden?”
She had only loved Cayden throughout the twenty-four years of her life.
She had given all her love and care to the man.
He emerged like a sparkling star during her teenage years, overwhelming every part of her body and
bringing life to her empty soul. He came into her world as her most beautiful dream and gave her the
confidence to conquer her inferiority.
From then on, the ways Cayden smiled and moved and even his speaking voice struck a chord with
Avery.
He eventually became an addiction she could not give up on.
Avery knew Cayden would continue to haunt her for the rest of her life.
Yet, at this point, the love of her life humiliated her with such vile words. After hiding the sorrow in her
eyes, she lifted her head and gazed into his eyes.
Despite shaking in anger, Avery did not want the misunderstanding to deepen. “Cayden, I don''t care
what you think of me, but I just want you to know things are not always what they seem.”
Cayden was not ready to take a step back. His lips curled into an unsympathetic smirk as he red at
the disheveled woman.
A glint shed across his eyes. He inched closer and whispered in her ear, “Things are not always what
they seem, huh? What exactly are you trying to say? I saw you lying on Dn''s bed, and he was on top
of you. Don''t you enjoy being forced into that position?”
Those remarks cut Avery like a sharp de, especially when they came from the love of her life, who
used her of infidelity.
Like a burning piece of metal from a smelting furnace, his words were etched deeply in her heart.
What he said had broken Avery down, putting her through utter misery.
Meanwhile, the burning heat surged through her body, and the bizarre feeling in her lower torso
continued to be more intense. She was mad and embarrassed, but the man''s words were the
straws that broke the camel''s back.
Despite her finger injury, Avery used all her might to push him away and punch him repeatedly, but she
was no match for his strength.
“Let me go, Cayden Moore! Leave me alone since you refuse to believe me. From now on, everything I
do has nothing to do with you anymore...” Avery shrieked in a weak voice. She had never been as
exhausted as this before.
The feeling of relief when she saw Cayden during the critical moment was overtaken by fury.
The more she struggled to pull herself away from him, the more friction her body created. That
torturous feeling almost drove her insane.
Soon, the elevator doors opened.
Cayden entered the elevator while Avery was still crying and throwing a fit in his arms.
No matter how she attempted to break free from his grip, Cayden still held her tightly to his chest with
an intense look on his face.
