    Chapter 123

Avery was able to recognize Dn after taking a look at him.

He was in Cayden''s study with Yvonne when Jeffrey coughed up blood at the Moore residence.

As Yvonne had left a bad impression on Avery, thetter didn''t quite like Dn either.

There was a guy handing out flyers nearby at the time. He walked past Avery and handed a flyer to a

passer-by as he said, “Excuse me, please take a look at this when you have the time!”

Dn turned around to look at her.

Avery was wearing a ck cotton T-shirt with a knot tied at the waist and a pair of denim shorts.

She looked just like a university student in that outfit.

“Don''t you have work today?” Dn asked while shifting his gaze away from her slender waist.

“Nope,” Avery replied coldly while continuing to hand out flyers.

She actually had work that day, but didn''t need to clock in at the office. As such, she snuck out and

handed out flyers to make some extra cash.

Although it wasn''t a lot of money, she could make enough to buy Jeffrey some medicine for his

    cerebrovascr disease.

Her sry, on the other hand, wasn''t even enough to treat Leonardo''s lung cancer.

Since she worked her part-time jobs during the day, she would have to stay upte toplete her

    designs for Trident Group.

“I thought you''d resign after breaking up with Cayden,” Dn said.

Unsure why he would bring that up all of a sudden, Avery handed out another flyer as she replied, “I

won''t say no to money, and I don''t think he''s the type to get revenge on his ex.”

Dn chuckled and walked off after hearing that.

As Avery continued to hand out flyers, Dn returned a few minutester with a bottle of water in hand.

“Your lips are all dried up. Here you go,” he said while handing it out to her.

Avery shook her head. “Thanks, but I''m not thirsty.”

Since she had refused his offer politely, there was nothing much Dn could do about it except retract

    his hand awkwardly.

“How''s the pay like for handing out flyers? Do they pay you by the hour? Or is it based on the number

of flyers you hand out?” he asked curiously while staring at the stack of flyers she was holding.

A middle-aged woman wearing a banner on her body came over and said, “We get paid based on the

number of flyers we hand out! They''ll only release the payment when we''ve finished handing it all out.”

Dn nodded at her in response and began observing Avery more seriously.

I just realized that Avery is being far too honest and diligent in her approach. There are tons of other

people handing out flyers on this street, so the passers-by have probably gotten sick of receiving flyers

by the time they pass her by. Despite her genuine sincerity and efforts in handing out her flyers, most of

the passers-by impatiently brush her hand aside. At this rate, she won''t be able to finish handing them

    all out in time.

With that in mind, Dn took a huge portion of it from her and said, “I''ll take care of these.”

Avery froze as she realized she had less than ten flyers left.

What''s with this guy? He''s so rude! First, he shows up out of nowhere and asks me a bunch of weird

questions. Then, he buys me a bottle of water. And now, he''s going to help me hand out these flyers?

What the heck is he ying at?

“Thank you for your kind gesture, but I can handle this myself,” Avery said as she reached out to take

    the flyers back.

Dn was about as tall as Cayden, but he had a slightly different air about him. That was when Avery

realized she couldn''t reach the flyers even without him raising his arms.

“Isn''t it better to get this job finished sooner?” Dn asked with an affectionate look in his eyes.

A few girls passing by shed them envious looks when they saw that. “You see that boyfriend of hers?

He''s a hundred times better than that rich boyfriend of yours! I doubt your boyfriend would willingly help

you hand out flyers like this!”

Avery heard that since she was standing quite near them, but Dn was busy handing out flyers about

fifty feet away from them at the time.

Due to his good looks and charisma, he received a much better response from passers-by than Avery

    did.

“Can I have one?” a random girl asked shyly as she approached him.

All it took was a few minutes for Dn to finish handing them all out.

He then waved his empty hands at Avery from afar.

Since her job had been forciblypleted, she had no choice but to collect her payment for the day.

Her boss was a middle-aged woman in her fifties. She had a stern attitude, and her job was to keep an

eye on the promoters so they wouldn''t ck off at work.

She rolled her eyes in disgust when she handed Avery her payment. “Why are you handing out flyers

when you already have a rich boyfriend? Don''te in to work tomorrow! This job is for those who are

    actually poor!”

Avery had wanted to exin herself, but the woman walked off before she could say anything.

What the... Did I just lose my job for no reason?

Avery felt frustrated at her predicament, but was powerless to do anything about it. As she hadn''t eaten

nor drank anything since morning, she decided to have lunch at a pasta ce across the street.

For some reason, the smell of food made her nauseous even though she was really hungry.

Having stood six hours under the hot sun, however, left her so weak that she had no choice but to eat

    something.

“You and I are not that close, so stop following me around,” Avery said when she saw Dn cross the

    road with her.

“We can get to know each other better over lunch, then. I''ve been meaning to try the pasta here. Will

you please stop being mad at me?” Dn said politely.

“Fine, you can dine here. I''ll go eat somewhere else.” Even if she couldn''t afford to offend him, Avery

figured she could at least avoid him.

She was about to leave when Dn grabbed her by the arm and said calmly, “Wait! Let''s be friends,

    okay? I won''t bite.”

“Sorry, but I don''t want you as a friend.” Avery didn''t want to be associated with any more guys from

wealthy families, especially if they were Cayden''s rtives.

    Please check at N/?vel(D)rama.Org.

She tried pulling her hand free, but Dn refused to let go.

The struggling pushed Avery''s weakened body to its limits, and she soon found herself getting a little

lightheaded. The next thing she knew, her vision had faded to ck.

Dn frowned when he saw her falling backward and quickly reached out to catch her. After realizing

what was going on, he scooped her into his arms and carried her into his Porsche Cayenne parked

    beside the road.

That was when his phone started ringing all of a sudden.

“Who is this? What do you want?” Dn shouted impatiently upon answering the call.

“Granduncle Toby wants to know when you''ll be back,” Zachary replied in his usual soft voice.

Dad must''ve forced him to call me in his stead, huh? That old man doesn''t like speaking to a failure like

    me, after all.

Dn nced at Avery, who was still unconscious in the back seat, and said, “I''ming home now.

Oh, and I''ll be bringing a woman with me.”
