    Chapter 82

“The inn owner is my friend, and I asked him for the spare key to your room.”

From the exchange, the unidentified man getting his rocks off atop Henrietta had a wife, and they both

    lived in that town.

Avery''s hands slowly fisted in the sheets.

    She felt sad for Leonardo.

Her father had toiled for more than twenty years to make money for Henrietta and Mna to support

    them.

At the end of the day, however, his wife cheated on him while he was enduring excruciating pain from a

    terminal disease in the hospital.

    “You''re despicable!”

“You love the despicable side of me, no? At least I''m far more virile than your husband, who either has

this cancer or that cancer... Well? Answer me...”

“Ahh... You''re virile! You''re most virile... Ahh... Stop thrusting... There''s no room anymore...”

“There''s no room anymore? There''s still much room, I reckon! Why are you still acting shy when you''re

already up in years? It''s all opened up... and it isn''t tight either... I''m the only one who doesn''t mind

servicing you...” This content is ? N?velDrama.Org.

    Avery was wholly sickened.

“Are you acquainted with her?” Cayden questioned in a whisper as he listened to the voices next door.

    “She... is my stepmother.”

    Utter mortification swamped Avery.

At that, Cayden got off of her. His perfect body seemingly had the ability to straighten his clothes

automatically, for his clothes became all neat in the blink of an eye.

“Let''s go.” He didn''t want her to listen to such sickening things anymore.

Getting off the bed, Avery left with him, even breathing causing her agonizing pain.

When she had gone to the hospital earlier that morning, Leonardo had mentioned that Henrietta might

    havee over.

“Go and wait outside,” Cayden urged in hushed tones as he patted her on the shoulder. Then, he stood

before the inn''s reception desk without budging an inch.

Only after Avery walked out with her mind all nk and sat down on a bench under the moonlight did

    he return the room.

The inn owner returned him the money, but he didn''t take it. Instead, he took out his wallet and whipped

out a stack of bills. pping them down on the marble countertop, he stated, “This is all yours.”

A room in the town cost ten bucks a night. Honestly speaking, few checked into the inn in a day. Even if

there were a few, most of them would haggle over the price for a long time.

Staring at the cash on the countertop, the inn owner inquired hesitantly, “What''s the meaning of this?”

Cayden gave the man all the money he withdrew from the automatic teller machine in town earlier.

Holding a cigarette between his fingers, he lit it and took a puff. With his eyes narrowed a fraction, he

    ordered, “Do something for me.”

Meanwhile, Avery waited for two minutes. When she had gathered her wits, she went in to look for

    Cayden.

“I''ve returned the room.” Just then, Cayden strode out.

“Why did you return it?” Is he nning to drive back to Ackleton overnight or... stay at Grandpa''s house

    with me?

Cayden took one of her petite hands. Finding it cold to the touch, he couldn''t help squeezing it. “I asked

the inn owner, and he told me I can buy sheets and quilts at the adjacent shop,” he uttered.

There was an old quilt at ke''s ce, but there was only one.

Avery would be using it that night, and she had rummaged it out from the closet. As it was damp, they

had hung it out in the yard in the afternoon.

ke felt that they should send Cayden to the inn since he was a guest. While thetter was his future

grandson-inw, they weren''t married yet. Besides, his identity wasn''t that of the average family, so he

wouldn''t be able to stand such destitute conditions in town.

In Ackleton, Allie drove out by herself.

Pulling over by the side of an isted road, she phoned her son repeatedly, but the reply she received

    remained the same.

“Sorry, but the number you have dialed is currently unavable.”

At that, she phoned Xavier instead.

“Xavier, I''m Cayden''s mother. Do you know where he went?” she queried.

“I''m sorry, Mrs. Moore, but Mr. Moore never allows us to question his itinerary.” In truth, Xavier had

received a call from Cayden five minutes ago, and the caller ID indicated that it was Avery''s number.

That made it clear that the man was presently with Avery.

As for where he was and when he wasing back, that wasn''t something a subordinate should ask.

“What a bunch of useless idiots!” Allie cursed and hung up the phone.

Clutching the steering wheel in one hand and her phone in the other, she stewed for a long time. Out of

the blue, she remembered her best friend''s son, Lenny.

In no time, she got through to him.

“Is this Lenn? I''m Allie Musk. I have a question for you. Regarding the blind date I rmended to you

previously, you both exchanged numbers and contacted each other after meeting up, yes? Quick, find

her number and send it to me! Okay, I''ll be waiting!”

After saying that, she hung up the phone.

Three minutester, Lenny sent Avery''s phone number to her.

At the town, Avery and Cayden walked out of the shop after buying a quilt and sheets.

Cayden asked Avery about her stepmother.

Feeling that it was no secret, Avery answered frankly, “My father hinted that Henrietta wants the

demolitionpensation for my grandfather''s house. It''s going to be quite a huge sum in total.”

“How will she get it if your father refuses to give it to her?” After hearing everything about Henrietta,

Cayden could imagine how much Avery suffered at her hands when she lived under her roof.

Avery stared straight at the road ahead while hugging a cartoon pillow. “My father is now hospitalized. If

he has an outburst, his condition will worsen and deteriorate all the faster. She reckoned that I wouldn''t

go to him about this. As for my grandfather and me, in her eyes, we''re both easy prey whom she can

    manipte as she wishes.”

They had only taken a few steps after exiting the shop when they heard sounds of a row from the

    adjacent inn.

“What a shameless wh*re! How dare you seduce my man? Wait and see whether I''m going to rip you

    to pieces today!”

Following that shout, the sound of a room door being rattled split the air.

Then, a woman who was in an exceedingly wretched state ran helter-skelter out of the inn entrance.

Avery sucked in a breath in astonishment. So, Henrietta was caught red-handed by the man''s wife?

At the sight of Avery''s stunned expression, the corners of Cayden''s lips turned up indulgently, and he

    chuckled subvocally.

Avery watched the scene unfolding before her with rapt attention.

A woman who had seemingly lost her mind yanked at Henrietta''s hair. Thetter was wearing a long

dress, and the woman pinched Henrietta''s thighs and arms through the fabric while cursing her out.

The pain was so excruciating that Henrietta copsed on the ground and wailed incessantly.

As for the man who hooked up with her, he cowardly stood at the inn entrance with his clothes in hand,

    trembling with fright.

“What a sl*t! I''ll pummel you to death before I kill that b*stard when we''re home! How can there be such

a shameless woman like you? You were crying out like a b*tch in heat in the room despite your

advanced age! Just see if I don''t cut off your tongue!” Climbing onto Henrietta, the woman rained blows

on her with both hands, pummeling her viciously.

Not only was Henrietta''s face all red and swollen, but blood also trickled out of the corner of her mouth.

Tugging at Cayden, Avery urged, “Let''s go home!”

Cayden slipped off his suit jacket and draped it over her. Wrapping an arm around her waist, he

headed in the direction of the old house.

No sooner had Avery stepped in the door while still thinking about karma getting Henrietta than ke

said, “Ery, your phone has been ringing non-stop.”

Cayden went into Avery''s room with the newly-bought sheets and quilt. He started making the bed,

determined to sleep with her that night.

There were six missed calls on Avery''s phone, and they were from the same unknown number.

When she picked up her phone, it so happened to ring again, so she answered the call. “Hello.”

“Avery? I''m Cayden''s mother!” Finally getting through to her, Allie sounded frantic and furious.
