    Chapter 55

“That''s not true...” Avery denied it instinctively.

“Pfft! Don''t lie to me! I remember that you would lean against the wall and watch him dreamily as he

was training in the school field!” Nephele said.

Of course, Avery remembered the events from her days in high school like it was yesterday.

She had a tendency to stare dreamily at anything and anyone that she found attractive. Surely enough,

the one person that she had stared at the most throughout high school was none other than Moore

    from the neighboring school.

Figuring Avery was probably blushing like crazy, Nephele continued, “I don''t me you for that, though!

After all, who wouldn''t have a crush on a campus hunk like him? This is nothing to be ashamed of!”

Avery felt her face burning up as she heard that and visualized Cayden as Moore.

I''ve heard of Cayden having a younger brother named “Kendrick” who looks quite simr to him, but

I''ve never seen Kendrick in person. What if I''ve gotten them mixed up this whole time? What if Kendrick

is actually Moore? Oh, no... That would probably be the biggest misunderstanding ever!

“What are you talking about? I was only fourteen at the time!” Avery protested stubbornly.

“So what if you were fourteen? Will you stop being so conservative? Don''t you know that tons of

students have already started dating at that age? There were even cases of tenth-grade students

getting abortions at the time! My mom is a teacher there, so I hear stories like these at home all the

time. I bet you were just too innocent to realize your feelings for him back then!” Nephele snapped back

    at her.

Unable to counter her statement, Avery could only keep quiet in response.

“Anyway, we''ve changed the venue for the gathering this weekend. I''ll send you the addresster,

okay? I have a long list of people that I need to call and inform about the change, so I''ll be hanging up

now. Bye!” Nephele said and hung up on Avery immediately after.

Avery had butterflies in her stomach as she ced her phone down.

I was wondering if Moore would turn up at the gathering, but Nephele has just confirmed that he''s

definitely going... Every girl is bound to have crushes on guys as she grows up, and I''m no different.

While I may not admit to it, I know full well how I feel about him... Wait, no... Even if I do meet Moore at

the gathering, I''ll only greet him with a nod at best. There are tons of other girls that like him, and I''m

probably the most unimpressive one of all, anyway.

Not wanting to distract herself any further, Avery shook her head to rid herself of those thoughts so she

    could focus on her work.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the city, Allie had finished a few cups of coffee by the time Leonardo

    arrived at the restaurant.

Seconds after Leonardo entered the private room, a waiter came in and asked, “What would you two

    like to have?”

Allie was about to tell the waiter that they wouldn''t be eating anything, but Leonardo had already picked

up the menu and ordered a few dishes.

“Understood. We will bring you your food shortly,” the waiter replied before leaving the private room.

Displeased by the restaurant''s poor hygiene and Leonardo''s tardiness, Allie jabbed at her watch and

scolded him, “Why are you sote, Leonardo? Don''t you know that you can''t afford to waste my time

    like this?”

“Sorry about that. I''mte because my family is keeping a close eye on me at home,” Leonardo replied

    honestly.

Allie let out a snicker when she heard his exnation.

“It''s been so many years, and you''re still such a f*cking coward? Honestly, I can''t even imagine how

stupid a woman must be to marry a useless man like you! And here I thought I was the only one na?ve

enough to fall for your useless a*s.”

Despite her nasty insults, all Leonardo could do was sit up straight and force a smile at her.

Under normal circumstances, Leonardo would have tried his best to avoid his arrogant ex-wife who had

trampled over his ego and pride.

However, he had no choice but to swallow his anger that day, as he needed her help with something.

“Let''s just get down to business. You own a third of our old house that is going to be demolished soon,

so I''d like to hear your thoughts on this matter. If it''s money that you want, then tell me how much I

need to pay you.” Leonardo didn''t even dare look her in the eye when he said that.

Thanks to the great skin care that she could afford, Allie looked so dazzling that it was hard to guess

    her actual age.

Her life had taken a great turn ever since she married into the Moore family. Being the second wife of

the former head of Trident Group, Allie was able to enjoy the wealth and glory that came with that title.

She had even made headlines in all sorts of magazines and newspapers alongside her husband.

Leonardo still remembered the first time he saw his wife appear in a newspaper with another man.

He was flipping through a newspaper at work when he saw the pictures, and he got so distracted that

he didn''t even hear the other employees warn him about the dangering his way. As a result, he

failed to dodge the crane in time and nearly had his left ear crushed.

He couldn''t bring himself to forget Allie, as she was his perfect first love that he had married against all

    odds.

Their house in Livingsfill was an old two-story home. As the developers needed thend back, they

offered marypensation to its residents before demolishing it.

Naturally, signatures from all owners of the house would be required before the money could be

    transferred over.

Leonardo had listed Allie as one of the owners of the house when they got married twenty-five years

ago, but she didn''t mention anything about the house when they got divorced.

Had it not been for the developer pressuring Leonardo to get the papers signed, Leonardo wouldn''t

even be meeting up with Allie at all.

Thest time the two of them met was a little over a year ago. At present, Allie tried to look him in the

eye and take him seriously but found herself unable to do so.

“To be honest, I would''ve forgotten about Livingsfill if you hadn''t brought it up today. How much could

they possibly offer for demolishing an old house in a small town like that? Two thousand per square

meter? Or three thousand? How much will I be getting? A couple hundred thousand? Or am I

overestimating it here?” Allie asked disdainfully.

ording to Leonardo''s calctions, Allie would actually be getting two hundred thousand for it.

Before he could say anything, Allie shot him a sympathetic nce as she continued, “I don''t want a

single cent out of thatpensation amount. It''s not even enough for me to buy a limited edition

handbag anyway. You can let your current wife have that money instead.”

After giving it some thought, Leonardo handed Allie the contract and a pen without saying anything.

Not wanting to waste another second being around him, Allie quickly signed her name on the contract

    without any hesitation.

“There, it''s done.” Allie then ced the pen on the contract and handed it back to him.

She grabbed her handbag and was about to leave when Leonardo reached out to stop her. “Allie, about

Ery... I''ve been deliberately keeping my distance from her. You told me you wanted her to live a better

    life.”

Having recalled the matter, she asked, “Has she returned?”

    Leonardo nodded.

“In this case, we''ll do it my way for now. Regardless of whether she has a boyfriend, I''m going to

introduce one to her. Don''t worry; I won''t hurt my own daughter,” Allie continued before leaving the

    restaurant in disgust.
