Chapter 1665
Chapter 1665 A Text Message
Aurora’s face sank when she heard her son’s words.
Cindy, on the other hand, shifted her gaze away. She didn’t understand Bryce at all. Even if Bryce had
the intention to lie to Aurora from the very start, I’m sure he still had feelings for her at one point. It
doesn’t matter how much of a jerk a guy is—he’d still pick someone that he fancied even if he intended
to fool around.
The three of them had no other ns after finishing their meal. Cindy went to gargle her mouth, and

she left her phone by the dining table. Her phone vibrated twice when she was still in the washroom.
This caught Ian’s attention, and he nced in the direction of the washroom before he leaned closer to
the table to steal a look at her phone.
Without touching her phone, he could see the contents of the message that she had just received as
her phone screen had lit up. It was a WhatsApp message that came from someone who used a
nickname, and the contents of the message were brief. It simply said, ‘Cindy, are you going overter?’
Ian frowned and thought about it for a moment before he figured out who the sender was. It has to be
the guy who yed badminton with her. She doesn’t know anyone around here, so he’s the only one
who would ask to meet up with her. With his lips pressed into a thin line, he moved to sit on the couch.
Meanwhile, Cindy took her time in the washroom. When she finally came out, she picked her phone up
and scrolled through it while walking back to her room. Ian didn’t turn to look at her, but he watched her
actions from the corner of his eye.
After Cindy shut the door behind her, Aurora sprawled on the couch in a ratherzy manner. “Did she
go back to bed right after her meal?”
Ian nodded. “Perhaps she’s still drowsy afterst night,” he uttered after some contemtion.
“She did drink quite a bit.” Aurora nodded in agreement. She did. Ian’s eyes glinted as he thought
about how they had ended up on the same bed the night before. We wouldn’t have slept in the same
bed without realizing what was going on otherwise.
Once Cindy got to her room, she replied to the text from the guy. Initially, she had no ns of going out.
After a night of drinks, she had nned to stay home to rest and recuperate. However, after what
happened between Ian and her, she felt too embarrassed to stay home for long hours. She therefore
agreed to go out with the guy.
The guy replied with a few voice messages after that, and he sounded rather excited. He told Cindy
that they would be in the same park that had workout equipment. “You cane over to meet us here
this evening,” he said through a voice note. After that, he mentioned that they might have a gathering in
a few days’ time. “There’ll be more than just people from the club—the rest of the people who hang out
with us will be there too. Are you free to join us?” he asked in another voice note.
Cindy wasn’t interested in the gathering. She wasn’t keen on eating with a bunch of strangers, not after
how awkward she had felt during the meal with Sophia and the rest of them the night before. At that
thought, Cindy rejected the guy’s invitation to a meal and exined that she’d be busy for the next few
days.
The guy didn’t seem too insistent on having her around—he merely said that they could discuss it when
they met. They stopped texting after Cindy responded with ‘Okay.’
She heaved a sigh before turning around to ce her phone on her bedside table. She then leaned
against the headboard and hugged her arms in front of her chest. I don’t know how much longer I’m
going to stay here, she thought. When things were tense between Ian and me, I already mentioned that
I was thinking of quitting the job. I genuinely wanted to talk to Hannah about it once Ian’s issue is
resolved. But after spending a few days with Ian and his mom, I feel like things are getting better
between us. I’m starting to change my mind. I don’t necessarily need the job and the sry, but I don’t
know how I’m supposed to tell them that I want to quit and leave. If I don’t tell them about it, then I’ll
have to stay by Ian’s side, she thought.
Things had already been rather iffy between them even before the incident that urred the night
before, and now, the level of awkwardness had increased tenfold. I’m getting a headache just thinking
about my rtionship with him. I can’t continue acting so awkwardly around him if I’m going to continue
working for him!
