Xiao Qian saw Zheng Xu’s car parked on the side of the road, knowing he hade to back her up.
“Pull over, I’m going to get out and say a few words.”
She hadn’t even finished speaking when Yu Minng stepped on the elerator, speeding past Zheng Xu’s car.
Xiao Qian watched Zheng Xu’s car disappear in the distance, angrily stomping on Yu Minng’s foot.
“When we get there, I’ll call him and personally thank him.” Yu Minng’s face didn’t look too good either.
The two of them were so angry they didn’t speak to each other for the rest of the journey.
As Zheng Xu watched Yu Minng’s car pass his own, he asked the driver, “Brother Xu, do we chase after him?”
“Always a stepte.”
“What are you talking about, Brother Xu?”
“Never mind. Go, take a few men and smash that minivan. Beat up all the men, especially the woman who led them. Just say it’s because they annoyed me.”
Zheng Xu lit a cigarette and sat in his car, watching his men clean up the mess. He looked in the direction Yu Minng’s car went, his eyes unfocused.
Why was he always one step behind Yu Minng? It was a question that had bothered him for quite a while. In fact, it wasn’t just this time.
If Xiao Qian had met him first, would she be as fond of Yu Minng now?
That question, like the smoke in the car, came and went, with no one able to answer it.
Such is fate, a fate that no one can answer.
When the car reached downtown, the bumpy ride had lulled Grandmother to sleep.
Yu Minng parked the car and got out, pulling out his phone. Xiao Qian followed.
He was heard saying,
“I couldn’t stop the car just now. I wanted to say thanks for your help today.”
“It’s not necessary.”
Zheng Xu’s voice came through the speaker, sounding a bit downcast.
Xiao Qian wanted to take the phone from Yu Minng, but he hugged her tightly and red at her with a warning look.
“When you’re free, we’d like to treat you to a meal. After all, Brother Xu, you’ve helped us out. Xiao Qian is still young, and as her boyfriend, I need to show my gratitude properly.”
Each word felt like a stab in the heart. Was he thanking him or provoking him?
Xiao Qian really wanted to call out Yu Minng on his petty behavior.
Zheng Xu didn’t respond. No one knew if he was rendered speechless by Yu Minng’s words.
“Brother Xu, if you ever need my help, just say the word. I’ll do anything for you, especially for my girlfriend’s sake. You can count on Brother Xu being generous and giving —”
“Beep, beep…”
Zheng Xu hung up.
Yu Minng showed his silent and fuming girlfriend the phone.
“See, it’s settled. I don’t owe him any favors, and you heard me try to sincerely invite him to dinner. He chose not toe.”
“You call that sincere?” Xiao Qian could only imagine what Zheng Xu’s expression must have been like.
It must have been enough to make Yu Minng fume with anger.
How shameless…
“How am I not being sincere? Chen Xiaoqian, erase any sympathy you have for him from your mind. If he didn’t have any dirty thoughts, he wouldn’t feel upset. He only feels bad because he has something to hide. You need to be clear about your stance: you are my girlfriend and have nothing to do with him!” “Finding you? I had to be able to find you first! I tried calling you first today, did you answer? My grandmother’s heart isn’t well. If I hadn’t found someone and something had happened, who would be responsible? Yu Minng, don’t be so smug. Just because we’re in a trial period, it doesn’t mean I have to revolve my whole life around you! I have my own circle of friends!”
Yu Minng and Xiao Qian stood facing each other, ring at one another, neither giving in.
“You can be friends with anyone but Zheng Xu. Do you really not know what he wants, or are you just pretending not to?” Yu Minng seldom used such a stern tone with Chen Xiaoqian.
But the more he did so, the more she resented him.
She was used to her freedom and was not going to put up with being controlled. His actions would only provoke her.
“I have nothing to be guilty of with Zheng Xu, and I don’t need to exin anything to you, Yu Minng. If you can’t even trust me this much, we might as well go our separate ways now. Listen, I will cure Zheng Xu, your worrying is useless.”
“How is it useless? He’s eyeing you like a hawk, and you’re telling me it’s useless?!” Yu Minng’s anger was stirred up.
Xiao Qian took a deep breath, “Yu Minng, you’re not being rational right now, I’m not going to argue with you. Let’s talk in ten minutes.”
She realized that if they continued discussing this issue, it would only escte emotions further. When emotions were involved, people tended not to think before speaking.
Yu Minng got in the car, and Xiao Qian moved to the backseat with her grandmother, neither of them speaking.
As they drove, both were in a bad mood. The oppressive atmosphere filled the car.
Instead of letting Yu Minng take her grandmother to her own house, Xiao Qian had them go to her Fourth Uncle’s house and called Jia Xiufang toe over.
After sending her grandmother inside, she didn’t follow her in but got back in Yu Minng’s car.
“Find somece we can talk.”
Yu Minng brought her back to his house.
His heart seethed with anger. They had wasted so much energy on a perfect holiday, taking two days off to go on their first date, only to end up in their first argument.
The feeling was terrible. N?v(el)B\\jnn
When Xiao Qian returned to his house, she immediately spotted the sofa that she hadined about numerous times. Soft cushions had been added to it.
Her heart swelled with mixed emotions. Although Yu Minng could asionally be domineering, he had indeed been very good to her.
She slept soundly every night on the bed he had personally set-up for her. The cushions must have been prepared after she’d mentioned the sofa being ufortable in case she came over again.
“I wanted to go with you to buy a new sofa after our date, but you’re just too infuriating. You don’t deserve the sofa! Go, grab a stool and sit properly!” Yu Minng had been angry the entire way home, and his anger had lessened somewhat now that they were back.
But he couldn’t let it go so easily and tried to give himself an out.
If she were smart, she would sit on hisp, hug his neck, and nt a few kisses on his face, and everything would be fine.
That’s what Yu Minng thought, but Xiao Qian didn’t give him the chance to get riled up again. She sat down on the sofa, crossed her legs, and defiantly looked at him.
Tsk, this little girl!
Yu Minng gritted his teeth, walked over, and plopped down beside her. He grabbed her and pulled her into hisp, pressing her legs down t.
“What are you doing?” Xiao Qian tried to struggle, but he only held her tighter.
“Stay still and let me hold you for a bit to cool off. Don’t say anything; your words always upset me. So what if you’re a little pretty and attract some attention? You can’t just go around saying things that make me mad. Don’t take my temper lightly.. I can be really scary when I’m angry!”
