    Considering that he sounded considerably loud, Logan figured that L was already asleep, since there was no reply.


    Sitting on his bed, he rolled his shoulders for a bit. Honestly, he didn’t mean toe back thiste, as he really was caught up with


    something.


    Letting out a heavy sigh, Logan felt a little disappointed inside, but in the end, he drifted off to sleep.


    Throughout the night, L didn’t manage to get proper sleep, and she woke up rather early the next day.


    Opening the door, L took a quick nce at the living hall, and noticed that Logan was already up. Standing in the kitchen on his own, he


    was seen reheating the leftovers from the previous day.


    The moment Logan saw that L was awake, he walked out of the kitchen hurriedly. “L, you’re up. Go get yourself a quick wash while I


    get the food ready. Once we’re done eating, I’ll send you to work.”


    Admittedly, Logan had always been nice to her. Perhaps L was being exceptionally paranoid, but she felt that Logan was trying too hard to


    please her.


    When a person was being this eager, she couldn’t help but deduce that Logan was acting out of a guilty conscience.

    Gazing at her for a while, Logan slowly walked toward her and ced his hand over her forehead. “No fever though.”


    Thinking that his hands might not be able to get a good temperature measurement, he leaned closer toward her, trying to stick his forehead to


    hers.


    Seeing that, L intended to move a step back, but Logan reached out his hand and held her head from the back. “Stay still,” he ordered.


    After leaning his forehead against hers, Logan heaved a sigh of relief. “There’s no fever for sure, but why is your face so pale? Didn’t you


    sleep wellst night?”


    Backing off a little, L nodded. “Yes, I didn’t have a good sleep.”


    Running his hands through her hair, Logan said, “You poor thing. Why couldn’t you rest well?”


    Without replying, L turned and walked to the washroom, while Logan returned to the kitchen.


    Standing before the sink, L stared at herself in the mirror.


    She had to admit that she did look awful. Back when she was investigating a criminal case, she would often need to work around the clock.


    Then again, she recalled that her condition back then was simply not as bad as it was now. It seemed like her rtionship had managed to take


    a toll on her—physically, emotionally and mentally. Seriously, rtionships shouldn’t be taken lightly, she thought to herself. Turning the tap


    on, she brushed her teeth. She got even more annoyed while washing her face. In the end, she wiped her cheeks with a face cloth. She ced


    the cloth over her face, and let it settle for a moment. No longer to keep her cool, L vented her anger by grabbing the face cloth and


    flinging it into the sink. On the other hand, Logan had no clue about what was going through her head. After heating up the leftovers, he


    called, “L, are you done? Come over for breakfast.” With her mouth set in a grim line, L tried hard to swallow down her frustrations.

    avoid his touch, L asked, “Are you heading to the clubhouse again? I guess you have not settled everything yesterday?” “Oh, everything’s

    failed to hold her tongue. “About yesterday, what time did you leave the house? I fell asleep, so I didn’t notice when you left. Were you in the


    clubhouse the whole afternoon?” Unable to notice anything unusual with L, Logan continued to make up his story. “Yeap, I received a


    phone call after you slept yesterday. Initially, I thought everything could be settled on time, but I didn’t foresee it to take longer than


    expected.” With a snort, L said sarcastically, “You sure are energetic for being able to stay busy for that long.” .
