Chapter 1223: The Terrifying Illusion
"Die!"
At that moment, a sudden roar echoed. An Abernathy family member, for reasons unknown, gripped his sword tightly and stabbed hispanion in front of him. A sh of cold light appeared, and before the other person could react, he was pierced through the heart.
"Ah!"
The victim''s eyes widened in disbelief, unable to ept that he had been killed by his ownrade. The crazed Abernathy family member, sword in hand, started attacking everyone around him. "Stop!"
Just as the deranged Abernathy family member was about to strike another person, Peterson Abernathy roared and threw a powerful punch.

With a loud noise, the crazed Abernathy family member''s head was shattered like a watermelon, blood sttering everywhere in a gruesome scene. After killing the madman, Peterson Abernathy gritted his teeth and said, "What on earth is going on? Why did he suddenly go mad?"
Every Abernathy family member had undergone rigorous training; such mutual ughter was almost impossible. The fact that this happened, and that it resulted in the deaths of Abernathy family members, made Peterson Abernathy''s face darken with anger. He had brought over ten thousand Abernathy family members to Jefferson Vige, but along the way, at least several thousand had died. Each one of those who perished was an elite of the Abernathy family, cultivated with immense resources.
Seeing them die like this pained Peterson Abernathy deeply. Chris Shelby took a deep breath and said, "If I''m not mistaken, that person must have fallen into some sort of illusion, causing him to go mad and kill indiscriminately. From now on, everyone must be on high alert; this illusion is terrifying!"
Hearing Chris Shelby''s words sent chills down everyone''s spine. They all knew what awaited them: endless illusions. These illusions targeted individuals specifically, meaning each person could fall into an illusion at any moment. What kind of illusion it would be was known only to the individual experiencing it. But one thing was certain: these illusions were rooted in their deepest fears and hidden thoughts- essentially their inner demons.
Chris Shelby took two steps forward when suddenly a familiar figure approached. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was Esther. Dressed in a white gown resembling a celestial being descending from heaven, she looked at Chris Shelby with a sweet smile. Despite being married for years, Chris Shelby couldn''t help but feel his heart race.
"Dear, how did you get here?" Chris Shelby asked curiously upon seeing Esther. Wasn''t she supposed to be on the East Coast? How could she suddenly appear here? When Chris Shelby set out for Jefferson Vige, he had left Esther on the East Coast due to the dangers involved.
Just as Esther was about to answer Chris Shelby, Daniel Williams suddenly appeared with a sword and lunged at her.
"Chris Shelby! You ruined my Hall of Death! You demoted me from prince to duke! Today I will kill your woman!" Daniel Williams roared as his sword plunged into Esther''s abdomen.
"Ah! Dear, save me!" Esther screamed as she fell to the ground, clutching her wound. Blood flowed through her fingers as she looked up at Chris Shelby with pale eyes full of sorrow before closing them forever.
"Ah!" Chris Shelby roared in anger as rage consumed him. "Dear! Dear! Dear!" His fury erupted like a storm as he held his sword ready to kill Daniel Williams for revenge when suddenly he stopped short.
Wait! How could Esther be here? Would Daniel Williams dare kill Esther? Didn''t he know Esther was his Achilles'' heel? If Daniel Williams killed Esther, Chris Shelby would stop at nothing to avenge her death even if it cost him his life.
Daniel Williams knew this well; that''s
why he previously used Michael Collins to try and kill Esther instead of doing it himself.
Realizing it was all an illusion
calmed Chris Shelby somewhat
though he broke out in a cold sweat

Such realistic illusions were horrifying beyond measure! If not for awakening at thatst crucial moment-the consequences would have been irreversible!
This tomb was too eerie-from Terracotta Warriors to various formations-it spelled certain death for ordinary people entering here!
Chris Shelby heightened his vignce immediately-taking deep breaths to steady himself-then continued forward as if nothing happened while numerous illusions kept appearing before him-all equally realistic- showing him visions of Esther-Hope-and even Candace.
