Chapter 1962
Little did Charlie know that Sophie was giving her all t o look for him.
In fact, he ced all his attention on the preparation o f the New Year''s goodies. Ever since
Charlie''s parents passed away, he always looked forward to this festive season.
In the past, he had a tough life. Festive seasons were n o different from any ordinary day. Not only
could he not enjoy the warmth of his family, but he would also envy others who could gather with
theirs. 1
Since he married ire, he did not show any particr interest in the New Year festival. In those
days, the Wilson family celebrated the festive season among themselves, and for Charlie, he would
be the subject of everyone''s sarcasm. Every New Year''s Eve reunion dinner, he would be
humiliated and embarrassed. 3
Comparatively, this year would be much better. This would be his most anticipated Oskian New
Year ever since his parents'' demise.
It was the twenty-ninth day of the Oskian New Year. Early the next morning while the family was
having their meal at the dining table, Charlie shared the list o f Oskian New Year''s goodies with his
wife and parents -inw. The list was modified and finalized after taking into consideration
everyone''s opinion.
Since ine had broken her leg and ire insisted on finishing her work towards the end of the
day, Charlie and Jacob would shop for the goods. Therefore, after breakfast, both of them would go
shopping at the mall.
After ire finished her breakfast, she rose and said," Hubby, dad and mum, I have to go back to
my office. Today’s thest day before the festive season, so I need to settle my work on hand and
then distribute red packets to the staff.” 2
ine, who was beside her, ined, "Why do you need to distribute red packets to your staff?
Haven’t they gotten their sry yet?"
ire replied seriously, "Everyone has been working hard for these programs. How could I not
reward them with red packets at the end of the year? Not only do I have to distribute the red
packets, but I''ll have to give them bonuses too."
ine felt hurt and stated, "You could have saved this money for other purposes. Why must you
share with outsiders? I''m really speechless!" 3
Charlie replied, "Mum, the business we have today is all thanks to the staff. Since the festive
season is around the corner, as thedy boss, ire should financially reward her staff. Otherwise,
the staff''s heart may grow cold towards thepany, and worse still, if they resign after they return
from the Oskian New Year, thepany may not be able to continue operating."
Jacob agreed and cut in, "You’re right, my good son-inw. Wifey, you’re very selfish. If you were to
be ady boss, you would be worse than Axel!’’ 6
ine red at him. ’’Jacob, mind your mouth. Another word from you and I''ll tear your face into
pieces even though I''m currentlyme!” 2
Jacob was frightened and shrunk his neck. He replied cowardly, "What a waste of my effort to argue
with you!"
ire shook her head helplessly as she said, "Alright, dad. You can go shopping with Charlie. I’ll
have to go back to work."
"Alright." Jacob nodded his head and added, "You may head out first. Both of us will go in a while."
Just then, the sound of a doorbell rang. Jacob turned 0 n the video inte and saw that there
were a few middle-aged men in suits standing in front of the surveince camera. 1
The leader asked respectfully, "May I know if Master Wade is home?"
Albert was the one who spoke. Isaac, Graham, Zeke, and Liam were with him.
There were a few other people behind him, but Jacob was unable to see them clearly. All he saw
was there were males and females of varying ages.
