Maurice bolted out of the elevator and quickly stormed towards the ward. “Aleck, how is Grandpa
doing?” he asked worriedly.
Aleck, who clutched his phone in his hand, looked up at Maurice in a daze.
All of a sudden, a question popped up in his head.
If the twins were Eliana’s children, how were they rted to Maurice?
Was Maurice the father of the children?
It seemed like a wild guess to him. He didn’t dare to think about it more unless he had evidence to back
it up.
Aleck was immersed in his thoughts and didn’t notice the expression on Maurice’s face shifting. His
face grew more severe as time passed.
Maurice waited for Aleck to answer and thought his silence meant that Earle was doing worse than
expected.
At the thought of this, Maurice turned to the ward. All of a sudden, a small hand gripped his.
Aileen looked up at Maurice with sympathetic eyes. “Mr. Maurice Moran, don’t be rmed. Mr. Earle
Moran is doing well!”
Adrian stood beside her and red at Maurice.
That was the moment that Maurice noticed the twins’ presence. “What are they doing here?” he asked
Aleck.
“Well… It’s a long story. I’m not sure if you’ll want to hear it. Your grandfather went to pick up Ss. He
noticed that the three children got kidnapped, and then saved them. The situation distressed him, so he
was sent to the hospital.”
Aleck exined the recent events as briefly as he could, and Maurice’s eyes darkened. Maurice could
only imagine the kind of danger they faced.
“Kidnapped? Who were they trying to kidnap? Was it Ss? Or was it the twins?” Maurice grimaced.
Aleck hesitated for a moment before he answered. “I don’t think those people were after Ss,” he said
with uncertainty.
His words implied that the kidnappers intended to target Aileen and Adrian.
Maurice’s thoughts raced in his head.
He thought he had concealed Ss’ identity well. If the kidnappers held Ss for ransom, they should
havee after him from the start. Why would they go out of their way to abduct two other children?
That could only mean one thing. They intentionally targeted the twins.

It became obvious to Maurice that the men wanted the twins to threaten Eliana.
Who would dare to do such a thing?
The Stone family recently learned their lesson for attempting to mess with him. They wouldn’t do
anything for the time being.
Did Eliana have other enemies that he didn’t know about?
Maurice was bewildered by the situation. He looked down at the twins and tried to get some clues from
them.
“Who do you think was behind your kidnapping today?” he asked the twins.
Aileen shook her head in reply. It seemed like she knew nothing.
Maurice turned his head towards Adrian and noticed the way the boy’s body tensed at the mention of
the kidnapping.
Based on the expression on Adrian’s face, Maurice knew there was something the boy wasn’t telling
him.
Maurice squatted so he could be at eye level with Adrian and looked into his eyes.
“Adrian, do you know something?”
Adrian guiltily looked away from his piercing eyes. He murmured, “I don’t know anything.”
Maurice could tell he was lying.
He could tell that the boy was hiding something, so he gently urged Adrian on.
“Are you sure you don’t know anything?”
Adrian was no match for Maurice no matter what tactic he tried to evade Maurice’s questions. He had
no choice but to tell the truth.
Adrian was about to open his mouth and confess when Earle’s voice suddenly came from inside the
ward.
“Maurice,e inside!”
Earle’s voice caught Maurice’s attention. Adrian breathed a sigh of relief.
Maurice took onest look at Adrian, who bit his lip tightly. He stood up and said to Aleck, “Please send
the twins home. I don’t want their family to worry about them.”
Aleck could tell that Maurice had a close rtionship with the twins and their mother. He instantly knew
that Maurice was aware Eliana was the twins’ mother.
What could his rtionship be with the children?
