    Fat Jim and Kourtney were chatting andughing as they walked out. When the door opened, a tall,


    sturdy figure blocked their path. Before they could react, Morpheus kicked the men who were holding


    the girl, sending them flying with force.


    Then, he scooped the girl up with a swift motion, carrying her over his shoulder, and strode out through


    the doorway.


    “I’m taking her with me,” he stated firmly with his back to the others, enunciating each word. “From now


    on, she’s mine.”


    All along the way, Persephone had her eyes covered, remaining so silent that it gave the impression


    that she might be mute.


    The progress of events took her somewhat by surprise. However… lying across Morpheus’ shoulder


    felt surprisinglyfortable.


    He ran fast and steady, easily supporting her with just one arm. She guessed he must be a big guy. An


    inappropriate analogy shed in her mind—he was a bit like the horse she had raised in her family’s


    stable since she was young.


    Thinking about it made Persephone chuckle.


    Morpheus’ steps noticeably paused.


    Soon, he brought her home. The house was a typical dwelling in this area of Flinge, a mixture of wood


    and bamboo, making creaking sounds when stepped upon.


    Morpheus’ house was small and sparsely furnished, and it did not even have an extra chair. He settled


    her on the only low sofa in the room, intending to remove her blindfold. However, he suddenly noticed


    something hidden in the boots she was wearing…


    Morpheus froze.


    Yet, in a quick move, she had already removed her blindfold. In that split second, Persephone suddenly


    leaped from the sofa. A cold glint shed across his eyes.


    Reacting swiftly, Morpheus dodged, immediately locking eyes with Persephone.


    It was a gaze he would never forget in his life.


    Her beauty seemed as if she didn’t belong to this world. Even though slightly disheveled, she couldn’t


    hide the elegant air about her. She resembled a startled rabbit but also a stubborn, relentless little


    leopard cub.


    Persephone was momentarily stunned. The dagger was hidden in her boot, and her previous


    movements were quite agile. She hadn’t expected him to dodge in time.


    Morpheus was just as she had imagined—burly and powerful but with a face more chiseled than she

    Morpheus looked up, alert, toward the direction of the window.


    “Keep your voice down,” he whispered near her ear, “If you don’t want to be handed over to man after


    man, then behave yourself… and listen to me!”
