Chapter 449 Short Of Clothes
Observing him, Lysander deduced he wasn’t really intending to flout thew.
She took a nce at the few people outside earlier. Their clothing seemed identical, giving off the
impression they were workers.
“Hurry up,” urged Josiah.
Lysander entered her room and found a loose–fitting sports jacket, which she draped over herself like
at cloak
Josiah was finally satisfied.
His gaze unintentionally fell upon his zer she had casually draped over the back of the chair.
Lysander said, “Your clothes are quite expensive, so I didn’t dare to wash them with water. I’ll take
them to the dry cleaners this afternoon and return them to you once they’re clean.”
With a stoic expression, Josiah casually replied, “I’ll leave it here with you for now.”

“Are you not going to wear it?”
“Do I look like I’m short of clothes?”
Lysander didn’t argue with him and said, “But it’s taking up space in my house.”
Josiah said, “Then hang it on the balcony.”
“Then it’ll take up space on my drying rack.”
Suddenly, Lysander remembered what the police had told her earlier that day–she could hang men’s
clothing on the balcony.
Is that what he meant?
Noticing the realization in her gaze, Josiah didn’t borate further and asked, “Where’s your
nightgown?”
“I’ve taken it off to discard it. Why?”
*Nothing. I just noticed the recent drastic change in your clothing style. I’ve never seen you wear such
a sexy nightgown before.”
Sery?
“That was just an ordinary nightgown. There are only so many styles for a woman’s nightgown, after
all.”
Josiah’s expression darkened even more, and his tone became sarcastic as he jabbed again, “Your
pajamas used to be two–piece sets, with long sleeves and long pants. Did you buy it especially for
Adrian?”
Lysander was at a loss for words. “I bought this at the supermarket after I returned to the country. The
other styles weren’t pure cotton, only this one was, so I bought it. What does it have to do with him?
Also, didn’t you say yesterday that both you and he couldn’te in?”

sc*m fromst night do this? Where else are you hurt? How did it get so bad?”
Lysander turned away. “It’s just a bruise; it’ll heal on its own after a while.”
Josiah’s gaze, however, kept lingering on her neck.
Lysander noticed him staring at her neck and pulled her jacket higher uneasily.
Josiah, vexed, pulled something out of his pocket and tossed it to her. “Here, this is for you.”
Instinctively, Lysander caught it and took a look. “Analgesic balm?”
.34%
Josiah’s frown faded as he quickly exined before she could ask, “Yeah. I injured my wrist a while
back, and this was useful. You should give it a try too.”
Sbe epted his kindness, albeit reluctantly. “All right then, thank you.”
Josiah didn’t mind her reluctance and nced in the direction of the door. “They’re all men. Why don’t
you stay in your room for a bit? I’ve brought them here to fix the windows, and while they’re at it, they’ll
rece your lock too.”
He was naturally well–prepared.
So thoserge items are actually raw materials for the windows.
Lysander wasn’t particrly surprised by this, though she was a bit puzzled. “How did you know the
size of my floor–to–ceiling window?”
Josiah remained expressionless. “Both yours and mine are of the same size. I had them measure it at
my ce and custom–made the ss.”
His exnation made perfect sense.
Josiah noticed Lysander’s hesitation and added nonchntly, “I broke your windowst night, so it’s
only right that I fix it for you. Hurry up. The workers are waiting outside. I have other ns after this.”
“Okay.” Not wanting to waste their time, Lysander nodded and retreated into her bedroom.
The mor in the living room went on for quite some time before it ceased. They were likely
dismantling the deformed window frames.
Lysander took out her phone and saw several messages from Daphne, asking about her situation.
She responded to the messages, reassuring Daphne that there was no need to worry.
Once they finished their conversation, the noise from outside had ceased for quite some time. The
window recement had likely beenpleted.
The rhythmic patter of footsteps echoed from outside the bedroom door.
Josiah knocked on the door. “It’s done. Come out and take a look.”
Lysander had assumed that he simply brought workers to rece the floor–to–ceiling windows, but
what she saw caught her off guard.

Chapter 449 Short Of Clothes
The balcony windows had essentially been overhauled. It was evident that the ss was now several
times. thicker than before. Moreover, an additionalyer of security mesh had been added outside,
making it seem as impregnable as a fortress.
“Don’t you
think this is too much?” She walked over and carefully felt the material. These anti–theft windows, from
frame to rod, seemed to be entirely made of alloy, looking exceptionally sturdy.
Josiah casually stated, “Not at all. All high–end residences are equipped whh anti–theft windows now.
There’s a remote control here that can be used to roll it up or down. It won’t affect the lighting in your
house or hinder you from drying your clothes.”
Lysander was not worried about that. Hesitating to speak at first, she eventually asked after some
contemtion. “How much did you spend on all these things?”
Josiah’s gaze suddenly turned frosty. “What do you mean?”
Lysander remainedposed, “I don’t want you to spend too much. You broke the windowst night to
save me, so naturally, I should be the one to cover the cost of the recement.”
She then nced at the group of workers, adding. “And there’s also thebor fee.”
Josiah chuckled. “If the person who came to help you repair your window today was Adrian, would you
still insist on paying him?”
Lysander remained silent and pondered over this issue. What would I have done if it was Adrian who
came? I’d decline his offer to help and rather do everything myself than trouble him again.
Seeing her remain silent, Josiah thought she was hesitating and scoffed, amused by his own
presumptuousness.
Lysander grew annoyed. “What are you scoffing at?”
A smirk of sarcasm appeared on Josiah’s face as he said, “Your best friend’s family is in debt, and your
own. family is in a hurry to make the house payment. Are you sure you still have money to give me?”
He was well aware of Lysander’s predicament, so he deliberately said, “These materials aren’t cheap,
and I hired only the best workers.”
Lysander would rather be ridiculed by him than owe him another favor. Hearing that, she calmed down
and said, “I might not have enough cash on hand, but there’s always another option.”
With that, she pulled out her phone and opened up the payment app.
Josiah took a step forward, staring straight into her bright eyes. He wore aplex expression, and his
words were harsh. “If you’re so short of money, have you ever thought about asking Adrian for some?
The Sutton family isn’tcking in resources. I’m sure he’ll give you if you ask. A few million means
nothing to
him.”
Lysander looked back at him calmly, raising a logical counter–question. “I share no familial or personal
ties with Adrian. We were former colleagues at best. Why would he lend me money?”
“Trust me. I understand men/better than you do. A man is willing to do anything for the woman he
likes,” Josiah said with an icy tone.
