Chapter 1111
Lizzie had always viewed Herman as intelligent from a young age. There was almost nothing he couldn’t handle. After joining thepany, he excelled even more.
She couldn’t understand how the same person could transform into a stranger in just over a
year.
Skr said, “I understand. Let’s just take a quick look and not disturb him.”
Lizzie knocked on the door. There was no sound or response from inside, as if no one was there. Lizzie knocked three more times, yet there was still no answer.
From Lizzie’s expression, theck of response didn’t surprise her. She pushed the door open
and said, “Herman, I’ming in.”
As the door swung open, the dim light inside made it hard to see where Herman was.
The curtains were drawn tightly, blocking any sunlight, and the lights were off.
The weather was still quite warm this time of year, and people usually had the air conditioning on during the day. However, in Herman’s room, the air conditioning was off, and stuffy heat
rushed out to greet them.
Skr paused at the threshold, hesitating to enter.
Lizzie walked in first. “Herman, I have a friend here to see you. She’s an antique restorer and wants to check in on you. Let me open the curtains.”
Lizzie was familiar with Herman’s room and headed straight for the window.
However, just as she reached the curtains and was about to pull them open, he grabbed her arm tightly. “Ouch! You’re hurting me, Herman!” Lizzie yelped.
But Herman remained silent. She sighed and said, “Okay, I won’t open the curtains. How about we at least turn on a light?”
This time, Herman didn’t stop her. Lizzie switched on the light. As the room illuminated, Skr caught sight of the surroundings and Herman. Content provided by N?velDrama.Org.
He stood at the window, his back turned to them. He hunched slightly, wearing a long–sleeved set of loungewear despite the heat. From the back, he looked so thin that his spine was visible.
Although she couldn’t see his face, his demeanor conveyed a sense of hopelessness, as if he were seeking escape from life itself.
Lizzie felt her eyes welling up. Herman hadn’t always been like this.
Growing up, she had always admired Herman. She often told others about her wonderful brother. Now, though, she could only ce her hopes in Skr.
Chapter 1111
Skr discreetly observed the state of Herman’s room and softly said, “Hello, Mr. Garza.”
As she expected, her greeting fell t, met withplete silence. Lizzie nced at Skr, her expression apologetic.
Skr shook her head, unbothered by theck of response. Before leaving, she subtly ced a talisman near the door in an inconspicuous spot.
After exiting Herman’s room, Lizzie asked, “What did you just ce down?”
Skr said, “A talisman that can help calm the mind and spirit. It should be useful for your brother’s situation. I’ve learned a bit about him, so let’s check out your family’s antiques.”
“My parents knew you wereing, so they moved all the antiques to the fifth floor,” Lizzie replied, leading Skr to the elevator.
They soon arrived at the fifth floor.
The fifth floor housed not only various antiques but also some incredibly rare and expensive jewelry. Looking around, it was clear there were fewer antiques than jewels.
“My mom enjoys collecting jewels, but she rarely wears them. She just likes to admire them. The paintings and calligraphy are my dad’s favorites. He loves collecting antiques,” Lizzie
added.
