It had been over ten minutes since Joe’s call. So, he would probably arrive soon since the roads were not jammed anymore.
Aiken thought it best to avoid crossing paths with him for now.
“Thank you. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been able to see Grandma Vi,” Skr said.
Aiken just smiled and said nothing.
If he could, he wished Skr wouldn’t be so formal with him. But for now, that barrier of formality between them as friends wouldn’t be broken easily, not while she was still Mrs. Martin.
Shortly after Aiken left, Joe arrived.
Seeing Skr’s swollen eyes, he walked over without asking any questions and hugged her.
