Chapter 753
By the time Skr learned of Sadie’s death, it was already evening. She and Joe were having dinner at a Taegu cuisine restaurant.
Skr had assumed that Sadie would sumb to her illness in the hospital, but it turned out Peter had beaten her to death instead.
“They want you to go there again? I will send Paul to the hospital,” Joe said, his voice tinged with frustration at being interrupted during their dinner.
“It’s not Peter. The call’s from the police,” Skr replied. She then ryed the details of the call to Joe. After that, she stood up and grabbed her bag. “You keep eating. I have to head to the police station to assist with their investigation.”
“I’ming with you,” Joe said, standing up as well.
Vera watched from the restaurant entrance as they drove off, her bag clutched tightly in her hands.
The sight of Joe’s attentiveness to Skr unsettled her–Joe not only opened the car door for Skr but also drove her himself.
Did he even realize what he was doing? Did he know about Skr’splicated rtionship with Aiken and Rowan? Did he truly not care at
all?
Vera had always believed Skr to be maniptive, and now it appeared she was quite skilled at charming men.
A difort lodged in Vera’s throat, an unease she couldn’t shake.
She couldn’t reconcile Joe’s feelings for another woman, especially someone who was always scheming and ttering men.
Upon arriving at the police station, Skr insisted that Joe waited for her outside.
The police asked her routine questions as soon as she arrived.
The witnesses at the hospital have provided a clear ount of the events. Since Skr was not legally rted to Sadie, she had the option to
participate or not in the follow–up actions.
At the moment, the coroner was still performing the autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of Sadie’s death. If it turned out that Peter was ountable, he would be joining Jeffrey in prison.
As Skr was about to leave the police station, she ran into Samuel.
Samuel looked visibly shocked and deeply shaken. His face still bore signs of fear. When he saw Skr, he appeared dazed and disoriented.
Skr nced at him briefly before walking past him without saying a word.
When Samuel saw Skr, he looked at her with a bitter expression and said, “Skr, our family is finished. We’repletely ruined. Aren’t you happy about it? Do you see this as our retribution? I’m finished! Congrattions on being the one to have thestugh.” N?vel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
The Williams family was in shambles. Jeffrey was in prison, Peter was facing charges, and Kenny and Maisy were missing, their whereabouts unknown.
As for Samuel, he could never return to the entertainment industry, and his life in Jipsbug was effectively over.
With that, the Williams familyy in utter devastation.
Skr took a few steps outside, then stopped. She turned back, her gaze cold and indifferent as she looked at the distraught Samuel.
Seeing Skr’s gaze, Samuel’s face briefly flickered with a glimmer of hope. “You…”
Skr’s expression remained emotionless, her eyes cold. After a moment, she turned away and left the police station.
Samuel stood frozen, as ifing to a realization. To Skr, they were no
ektferent from strangers. No matter what they did, it didn’t affect her, and she wouldn’t treat them with the same kindness she once had.
Vaguely, he seemed to hear someone say to him, “It’s all retribution.”
The autopsy results were released soon after.
