    Her entire face seemed to light up, and tears welled in her eyes as she bit her lip. “You...”


    “Are you okay?” The man turned to smile at her.


    Gwen‘s face fell when she realized that it was Steven. She bit her lip but could not seem to hide the


    disappointment on her face. “I‘m fine, Steven.”


    Steven‘s heart sank


    The reason she had seemed so happy to see him...was because she had mistaken him for Luke. After


    realizing he was not Luke but Steven, however, she became visibly disappointed.


    Even when he was rescuing her, she was still hoping it was someone else.


    The light seemed to disappear from Steven‘s face at this realization, but the sadness onlysted a


    moment.


    He let out an exhale, stepped in front of Luna and Gwen, and then lifted his head to stare at the people


    before him. “I‘ve already called the cops. It‘s absolutely disgusting of you to treat these women like


    this.” “What business is it of yours?” The leader did not seem to be bothered by Steven‘s appearance.


    She sneered and said, “We‘re in the middle of resolving internal conflict! This woman is Joshua Lynch‘s


    wife! How is it wrong of us to treat her like this? If anything, it‘s all Joshua Lynch‘s fault!”


    With that, she brandished her arm and added, “Everyone, if we don‘t lure Joshua out of the building, all


    our waiting would‘ve been for nothing. It‘s been difficult waiting out here in the freezing cold, so let‘s not


    let our efforts go to waste. Don‘t be intimidated by this man!”


    Upon hearing this, the crowd surged forward in Steven‘s direction.


    Gwen bit her lip and instinctively reached out to grab Steven‘s arm.


    If the person standing in front of her were Luke, she would not have been worried at all, but he was not


    Luke.


    Steven was gentle and would not even hurt a fly. “Don‘t worry.” Steven narrowed his eyes and shot the


    crowd a disdainful nce. Then, he took off his jacket, handed it to Gwen, and pulled his sleeves up. “If


    you intend toy a finger on her, you‘ll have to go through me first.”


    With that, he lunged towards the crowd.


    The color drained from Gwen‘s face as she bit her lip.


    “Gwen,” all of a sudden, Luna‘s voice rang out next to her. “Why is Steven so...gifted at fighting? It kind


    of reminds me of Luke.”


    Luna had witnessed Luke inbat before.


    Luke and Joshua had once gone to rescue her when she was kidnapped back in Sea City, and at that


    time, Luke had left a significant impression on her.


    Appearance–wise, Luke looked gentle and even a little weak, but this man was surprisingly agile and


    quick in mortalbat. As she watched Steven fight against the crowd of protestors... it brought back


    memories of Luke inbat. Gwen immediately lifted her head upon hearing this. Her heart lurched as


    she stared at the man in the distance.


    Tears slid down her cheeks.


    Luna was right.


    Steven‘s every punch and blow...even the way he swiped his hair out of his face in between


    strokes...was identical to Luke‘s. Was this just a shared trait between identical twins, or was Luke


    gradually returning?
