    She replied, “I thought we were attending Ged’s grandfather’s birthday. I heard he’s suffering from


    severe hair loss. I’m going to pick some horsetail for him.”


    “Are there horsetails on these hills?”


    “Sure, there are. I found a particrly old horsetail in one of these parts. It was at least a hundred


    years old. I made sure to put down a marking.”


    “Well, then. I’ming with you.”


    She knew better than to refuse, so she let him tag along. They were trekking the hills when she


    heard a muffled grunt behind her and asked, “What’s wrong?”


    Ivor held his thigh and grimaced.


    “What in the world happened, Ivor? Move your hands, and let me see.’

    Ivor felt dizzy and sat down, saying, “I noticed a snake slithering across my feet earlier, but I didn’t
