Jane was grateful to Peter.
He had allowed Jane to get a clear look at the Fowlers family’s true colors. He had let Jane reflect
deeply on how fo*lish she had lived her life.
To think that she had spent so much effort in humiliating herself to please such a family…

That was the world’s biggest joke.
The Fowler family was unworthy.
They were not worthy at all.
Jane had worked so hard and even gave up her life.

“A real family shouldn’t be like this,” Peter said.
“At least, not like what I did.”
Peter pulled his hair and stooped helplessly on the ground.

But Peter had notprehended it before.
He recalled everything that Jane had said earlier.
Every word was like a curse that hurt his head.
Even he felt disgusted by himself.
Larry hade over too.
After looking around for a while, Larry found Peter stooped on the ground, clutching his hair.
“Peter? What’s wrong with you?”
Larry sensed that something was wrong and rushed over to Peter.

“Larry, do you think I’m very heartless? Very perverse?
“If you were in my shoes, would you treat your blood-rted sister, who had

Peter moved his thin lips and asked those questions weakly.
“Did Jane say something to you? Wake up, Peter!”
Larry held Peter’s shoulder and shook hard as if trying to call Peter’s soul back.
“Larry, I’ve never felt so disgusted by myself before. I’ve never hated myself like this before.
“Jane was right. The things I just said were so di*gusting that even I can’t recognize myself. I feel sck.
“I seriously believed in my heart that if Jane had shown her talent earlier, I might have changed the way
I treated her.
“But Ipletely forgot that she is my sister, rted by blood.
“There shouldn’t be any need for our rtionship to be built on self-interest.”
The more Peter spoke, the more he felt that a candle was stuck in his throat.
It felt very bitter.
Peter felt something in his throat.
Every word he said caused him to feel as if his throat was going to break.
“Peter, what on earth…”
Larry couldn’t finish.
Peter’s breathing suddenly became very rapid.
“Peter? Hey! Peter! Don’t scare me! Peter!”
The moment Anna received the news, she rushed as fast as she could with Jack and Dwayne, who
was on leave, to the University of Oricle.
In the school clinic, they saw Peter fast asleep. He had an IV drip in his arm, and his face was pale.
Next to him were Larry and Madelyn.
“Daddy, Mommy.”
Madelyn was crying uncontrobly. The moment she saw her parents and brother, she rushed over like
her pir of strength had arrived.
“Peter… He…” Madelyn cried.
Anna hugged Madelyn and tried tofort her. “Maddie, calm down,” Anna said. “What on earth
happened?”
Madelyn kept sobbing while trying to calm herself down so could speak clearly.
“Peter had gone to meet Janie, and then he ended up like this. Larry found Peter like this and carried
him to the school clinic just in time.
“Today, Janie broke Peter’s record. I’m sure that’s what agitated him. Peter is such a proud person. If
Janie said something h*rrible to Peter out of anger…”
“Mommy, I’m so scared. Will anything bad happen to Peter?”
Larry suddenly frowned.
Something was off.
Why did he feel that what Madelyn said sounded a little strange?
But that strange feeling onlysted for a while and then disappeared without a trace.
What Madelyn said was all true.
That was the information that they had for now.
Madelyn was crying inconsbly in front of her parents and Dwayne.
Besides that, Madelyn had rushed to the school clinic immediately after learning that Peter had fainted.
She did not even have time to go to ss. Her face was filled with worry, and her eyes were swollen
from crying.
She could not possibly have been faking it.
She was sincerely concerned about Peter’s well-being from the depths of her heart.
Jack gritted his teeth. “Larry, is what Maddie said true?”
“Yes, it’s true but…”
“D*mn that Jane Fowler!”
Jack immediately walked out of the school clinic.
“Jack, where are you going?” Anna asked.
“Where else? Of course. I’m going to demand Jane pay for this! How dare

she hurt Peter? I’m not going to let her off!”
“Jack!”
This time, even Anna could not hold Jack back.
As a father, Jack saw the son he was proud of lying unconscious in bed with an IV drip in his arm.
And the culprit was his flesh and blood, Jane, the daughter Jack hated the most and had thrown out of
the Fowler family.
Any human would have been unable to remain calm.
“Oh no…
Mommy, I’m sure Daddy is going to kick up a fuss with Janie. Daddy can be very scary when he’s
angry. He might beat up Janie. Mommy, you must hurry and stop Daddy. I’ll stay here with Peter. He’ll
be fine!”
Madelyn looked very anxious. She seemed afraid that Jane would get insulted by Jack.

Anna nced at Peter lying in bed. She could not get over her worry about her son. “Dwayne, hurry
and catch up with your father. Don’t let him do anything rash,” she instructed.

The usually enthusiastic Dwayne was unusually hesitant this time.
The main reason was that the incident with Jane at the Porsche 4S dealer’s office thest time, when

“And here’s your favorite pork ribs,” L said.
“L, here’s the limited hotdog special that I lined up to grab for you,” Jane said. “Doesn’t it smell
wonderful?”
“Wow!”
The hotdog in Jane’s hand was covered with toppings. When L saw that, her eyes filled with love.
“It’s so good that you could finish Professor Henderson’s ss early.
“Janie, I believed that you could do it! Hehe!”
Jane ced the hotdog on L’s head and said, “But of course. As your best friend, how could I not
have this little bit of ability? Otherwise, I
wouldn’t be worthy of being your best friend.”
“It’s too bad that I didn’t make it. Boohoohoo. Janie, if you go so far ahead, I’m worried that you won’t
be my friend anymore.”
L pulled a long face.
She was not overreacting.
L knew long ago that Jane was not an ordinary person.
Jane had hidden her amazing talent very well.
Once her talent started to shine brightly, L knew she would no longer be able to catch up with Jane.
L was afraid to turn into someone unworthy to be Jane’s best friend.
“You’re so si*ly, L. Eat your hotdog. How could you be unworthy? Then
who would be worthy? You’re my best friend in this world.
“This is a lifelong promise. No matter what I be in the future, I’ll never forget,” Jane said.
Jane flicked her finger on L’s small forehead.
L was being si*ly, filling her head with so much nonsense.
L was like a sun to Jane. L was Jane’s savior.
L had cheered Jane on and stood by her without wavering as Jane fought with the world.
Without L, Jane could not imagine what she would turn into.
Living her life again, she would have given up on herself and fallen into the darkness or destroyed
everything.
L was the ray of light that brought Jane out of her dark world.
Jane swore that she would treasure this life and protect her best friend
well.
“Okay, I was only joking. I know that you treat me the best.
“Now that you’re so good, don’t you dare dream of discarding me as an old
spare part.
“I’m never going to let go of you. I’m waiting for you to help me fly, go to the highest peak of my life,
marry a handsome man, and overtake Bill Gates. Muahahaha!”
L stuck out her tongue. She took the hotdog and tore open the wrapper. She took a bite. The sudden
burst of vors was very satisfying.
L rolled her eyes while eating. Then she said carefully, “Janie, Peter went to look for you. Is
everything all right?”
“Everything’s fine. Just a l*ser yelling nonsense. I won’t take it to heart.”
Jane was quite calm as she replied.
She could look at it another way.
She was grateful to Peter.
He had let Jane get a clear look at the Fowlers family’s true colors.
“That’s good…”

“Jane Fowler! Show yourself now!
