“Can you specify the parts where he made significant blunders?” Cecelia pressed.
“Sorry, this is the internal information on our selection. We can’t share it with you,” Petunia refused with
an excuse.
“Aren’t fairness, impartiality, and openness the spirit of thispetition? Why can’t you share it with
me?” Cecelia contradicted on just grounds.
Petunia felt embarrassed and simply said, “Well, if you want to ask for a reason, I’m telling you I gave
him the lowest score!”
“The fluency of the No. 23 yer was fine, but he was very poor in the other parts, so I couldn’t give
him a high score. Satisfied?”
“Miss Taylor, I seriously doubt the uracy of your judgment and your understanding of music,”
Cecelia mocked.
Petunia’s face instantly turned dark. She stood up to confront Cecelia.
“Madam, don’t try to make a fuss just because your child’s score is low?” Petunia said loudly on
purpose.
Then, the viewers who were leaving the venue were attracted and stopped to look.
Many people wanted to know the result of the argument, so they returned to their seats to watch the
fun.
“We’re all professional judges. Our ratings are the most just and professional. Your child must be
lacking in skill. You should look within yourselves. Is it suitable to ask the judges for a high score?”
Petunia reprimanded Cecelia in the tone of a professional judge.
Cecelia was not afraid of being humiliated. She said, “I’m not asking you for a high score. I just doubt
the fairness of your rating! If you have a problem with me, you can take it out on me. There’s no need
to involve my child! As for my son’s performance, the whole venue has watched it. They have ears, and
they can tell. Why is his score ridiculously low? Is there anything fishy in this?”
Cecelia stared at Petunia, coldly and fiercely. Didn’t she know what intention Petunia was harboring?
This must be her trick!
“Are you doubting my professional ability?”
Petunia started arguing with her. Cecelia sneered, “Do you have the ability? If you did, you wouldn’t
have blindly given a score like that!”
“It sounds like you’re so professional! Today, on this very stage, I will make you surrender and admit
defeat!” Petunia said indignantly. Then she said to the audience through her microphone, “Parents,
teachers, and all the viewers, now a mother doubts my professional ability because of her child’s low
score. She wants to challenge me, and I agree topete with her here and show her my ability.”
Thepetition between Petunia and Cecelia should have happened at the dinner party on the
Bowman Group’s cruise ship, but it had been dyed because of various reasons.
Today was a perfect opportunity. Petunia would make Cecelia feel humiliated!
Now in the private room on the second floor, the Nelsons and Shawns were also watching. Remington
clearly knew Petunia did this on purpose.
She wanted topete with his wife Cece? She was humiliating herself!
The audience all craned their necks. No one expected that this mother could be so brave she dared to
challenge the professional judge of thispetition!
There was fun to watch now. Everyone was waiting! They were waiting for them topete, but
Cecelia was silent.
When she walked past her, Petunia asked with a smile, “Are you afraid, Miss Linsey?”
“Not at all.” Cecelia said calmly, “If you want topete, let’s do the most difficult one. Show all you’ve
learned in this life.”
“This is your request. When you’re humiliated, don’t me me for not showing you respect.”
Petunia hit Cecelia’s shoulder with hers and went straight to the piano on the stage.
The children’spetition had ended. This was just a minor incident, but the audience was more
interested. After all, this was a battle between a parent and a judge.
All the people wanted to see the final result. They wanted to know if the mother could sessfully get
justice.
When thepetition started, Cecelia asked Everest to bring Andres here.
Andres came to her from the side and nced up at her. Cecelia gave her son an encouraging look
and held his little hand.
They would listen to the performance together.
Petunia began to y. In order to show off all her skills, she picked a very difficult piece called
Paganini’s Exercise No.3 – The Bell by Nolò Paganini.
Flowing rhythms soon ran out from between her dancing fingers. Her performance was truly
outstanding. She was very skillful, and her emotional control was perfect.
All the other judges nodded repeatedly to show their approval.
And those who knew nothing about piano music were also enjoying it. Indeed, the performance was
perfect from beginning to end.
When the music ended, the viewers at the venue all apuded.
Petunia stood up and bowed to them. Then she looked at Cecelia standing in the audience and said
through her microphone, “The mother of the No. 23 yer, it’s your turn!”
The viewers all wanted to know if the mother could y the piano.
How could she dare topete with the judge?
If she couldn’t y, she would lose face, wouldn’t she?
Cecelia also got a microphone. She said to Petunia directly, “There’s no need for me to show. My son
willpete with you!”
Petunia widened her eyes in disbelief. “You must be joking! This is apetition between us adults.
compete with me? What are you trying to do? If you can’t y the piano, just admit defeat!”
“I won’t admit defeat. If you don’t dare topete with my son, you’re not qualified topete with me.
I must let everyone know my son can y the piano just as well as you!”
“What a bold statement! Remember, this is your request. If your son loses, don’t me me for taking
advantage of his young age.”
Cecelia ignored her. Holding her son’s little hand, she took him to the stage and put him on the piano
stool.
“Give it your all, son! You’re the best!”
Cecelia kissed her son’s face and stepped aside.
A ray of light nted down on the piano. For the second time tonight, Andres was in the spotlight. His
little handsnded on the keys and began to move flexibly.
The music started to reverberate. Soon, some realized that the child was ying the piece the judge
had just yed.
Surprisingly, he yed it so well!
A five-year-old could y such a difficult piece? That was amazing!
In fact, what outsiders didn’t know was that Andres had rare musical talent hidden within himself.
He had not experienced professional training, but if the music was what he had heard or what he had
watched someone y, he could memorize every detail and y it.
After quietly hearing Petunia y the piece, he could y it.
The audience watched the child confidently ying the piano. After hearing the melodious rhythms,
every one of them would think, Howe such a talented child got the lowest score in this
competition?
Although the piece was difficult, but Andres could y it without making any mistakes. Realizing that,
Petunia couldn’tugh anymore.
She stared at Andres, her eyes filled with confusion. It was widely known that this little boy of the
Nelson family was unsociable and knew nothing. But how could he y the piece she had just yed?
This was not what a boy at his age could do!
When thest note ended, the little boy withdrew his hands and stood up to bow. Once again, the
audience gave him the most enthusiastic apuse.
This was the encouraging and appreciative apuse for the uncrowned king!
When the apuse had quieted down, Cecelia looked at Petunia and asked, “What do you think of my
son’s performance, Ms. Taylor?”
