    Neera was exhausted when she was home; she barely kicked off her shoes andid on


    the sofa without changing her clothes. The triplets were used to seeing her like this.


    They were sensible; none of them came to her to ask for hugs and kisses; they


    exchanged looks and went to do whatever chores they could. Sammy went to pour a


    cup of water; Penny went to her and massaged her wrists and shoulders; and Harvey


    carried a tray with hot meals to her. “Mommy, I’ve made this for you. You must be tired


    after such a hectic operation. I’ve preheated the food, so you cane back to hot


    food. Please eat some and rest; if not, I’ll be sad.”
