    days and was a bit dusty Zack and Patricia helped Cornelia clean up


    the ce.

    Zack said angrily in a raised voice, “Cornelia, I get that you want to put on a brave face for others, but


    do you need to do that with me? Haven’t I seen you at your worst?”


    “That’s the truth Why are you so mad?” Cornelia retorted


    Zack was about to explode. “You protected Marcus like crazy before. Even a bad word about hirn


    would set you off. You told us countless times that you wanted to be with him forever Now, all of a


    sudden, you guys are divorced. Do you expect me to believe nothing happened?”


    “Let the past be the past. There’s nothing to talk about.” Cornelia didn’t want to bring up Marcus again.

    Zack held Cornelia tightly, gently patting her back, “Cornelia, cry it out. Let all the pain flow out with


    your tears. After tonight, don’t shed another tear for this undeserving


    man.”


    Cornelia forced a smile, holding back her tears, “I won’t cry for a man who doesn’t deserve it.”


    “Crying doesn’t make you weak.” Zack looked at Cornelia’s brave face, his heart aching


    He used to think that Cornelia had finally found a good man, that someone would take care of her, and
