With her as an outsider joining in, the game was a whole new ball game. She meant well, trying to help.
But in reality, she was just stirring up trouble.
Marcus shook her hand. “You get what I’m saying, right?”
Cornelia nodded. “I gotcha”
She was still bummed that she couldn’t help Hannah fulfill her little wish, Marcus nced at his watch,
“It’s twenty past eight, and the light show starts in ten minutes. Let’s all go watch it together”
Cornelia asked excitedly. “Are you done ying cards?”
Seeing her so thrilled, Marcus was also chuffed, “ying cards can happen anytime, but things that
make you happy, not so much”
Ignoring all the gazes around them, Cornelia kissed Marcus on the corner of his mouth, “Marcus, you’re
the best!”
Damn!
Marcus adjusted his sses, his eyes focused on her, suddenly bing blurry. His Cornelia was so
sweet and naive, she had no idea how much that kiss affected him. It took all his self–control not to
cross the line with her.
Others, especially Zavier, eximed, “Marcus, you stole my wife and left me all alone. And now you’re
unting your love in front of me, that’s low”
She got carried away in the moment and kissed Marcus, not considering everyone else around them.
Now being teased by everyone, she wished she could just hide.
Marcus simply responded, “Let’s finish this game, then we’ll go watch the light show”
The other three guys said almost simultaneously, “What’s so great about a light show? If we want to
see one, we can simply pay for a bigger and better one. Wouldn’t that be
better?”
That was how rich people talk They wanted a light show, just one word, and the best light show
companies would be scrambling for their service. They never had to follow other people’s schedules; if
they missed it, they could still watch it whenever they wanted
Marcus said, “I’m going, it’s up to you guys if you want toe.”
The other three guys immediately got it, “So, your wife wants to see it?”
Marcus replied, “No, I want to watch it with her.”
The three guys said, “Sure enough, once a long time single guy tastes the sweetness of love, he can’t
extricate himself.”
Not only was his rtionship with Cornelia great, his card–ying luck was also off the charts. He won
the first round.
Weren’t people supposed to have lousy luck in cards when their love life was going well? Why was
Marcus the exception?
