    Chapter 682

Cordy assured Dicky. “Don’t worry. You’ll definitely grow very tall.”

“Yeah!” Dicky nodded. ‘Til definitely be taller than Lucas.”

Cordy was left speechless, since that might be unnecessary.

What if he got taller than six feet? That would make getting a girlfriend harder.

Nheless, her feignedposure crumbled after Dicky left.

It had been an unpleasant day, after all.

Early next morning, someone knocked on Cordy’s door.

She opened it to find Sean standing at the doorway, looking a little tired.

Had he just returned from the hospital? What about Nana?

“Sorry to wake you this early,” he apologized, unaware that he was insomniac.

Come to think of it, Cordy had been forgetting to buy herself sleeping pills since she came to Cranson

    Hall. She basically hadn’t slept for days;

technically, Sean wasn’t waking her up.

    “How’s Nana?” she asked bluntly.

“She’s fine. She’s not in any immediate danger,” Sean said, and breathed a sigh of relief.

“It’s that serious? What on earth is her condition?” Cordy could not help asking.

“It’s a congenital heart defect,” Sean exined. “Medical technology wasn’t as advanced as it was now,

and it wasn’t detected before she was born. There had been several medical alerts after she was born,

but those were all close shaves. After that, she was sent abroad and treatment was going well, so she

stayed there for years. I mean, yesterday was the first time I’ve seen her since she was five.”

As Cordy listened quietly, he continued, “It’s only after I apanied her to the hospital yesterday that

I learned that she had a heart transnt, but it’s a good match and she could live normally if there were

no issues…and by issues, I meant allergic reactions. It puts a terrible toll on her heart and could

actually stop it entirely and kill her. That’s why Lucas flipped out at you like that.”

    “Right.” Cordy nodded.

Like she saidst night, she understood and was rational enough to not keep her conduct from being

    affected by personal sentiment.

“You have nothing to worry about,” Sean said. “Nana has been rescued, and the allergy had no

adverse effects on her heart or health. Naturally, this must never happen again because there was no

telling if she might be this lucky again.”

“Okay,” Cordy replied. “You should go to bed soon-you’ve been working the whole night.”

“I’m alright. Working overnight is actuallymonce for following up with legal cases. Also, I have

something else to tell you aside from Nana’s recovery.”

Cordy remainedposed despite Sean’s pointed gaze. “Tell me.”

“Nana asked to see you after she woke up,” Sean said. “I didn’t decide it for you, though-you can go if

you want, or say no if you like. Our grandfather will know what to tell the Lynds. He’ll never let you

    suffer.”

“Also, I know you’re innocent. I’ve already seen the footage the butler just sent me, and it’s all on Nana.

I didn’t present it as evidence for now, because getting too fussy with distant rtives would inevitably

hurt the overall rtionship. I’m sure you could tell how close our grandfather was with his sister.”

    “Alright. I’ll go,” Cordy said.

She certainly understood Sean’s misgivings. To show the Lynds the video to assert her innocence was

    a p to their face.

They were rtives and families with wealth and power, so such a thing would only embarrass both

    parties.
