Chapter 965 I’ll Do My Best
Helga’s sister and Amy were already waiting at the operating room’s entrance. When
they saw Jenny approaching, they both hurried over.
“Dr. Walter, the surgery…” Helga’s eyes were slightly red, and she couldn’t even bring
herself to ask the question.
Jenny nodded to her and said, “Don’t worry. I’ll do my best.”
“Okay.” She didn’t say anything else, fully aware that words were meaningless in a
life-or-death situation like this. The only thing she could do was pray hard for her
sister.
“Dr. Walter, will my mom be okay?” Amy didn’t know what illness her mother had, but
she knew her mother was about to have surgery. Her aunt told her it would be painful,
so she worried.
Jenny looked down at her and smiled, “She’ll definitely be fine, Amy. You have to be
good, okay?”
“Okay, I’ll be good and wait for my mom toe out.” Amy nodded. She was around
four or five years old and didn’t really understand the concept of death.
Jenny entered the operating room, and the surgery began.
Handling Helga’s illness wasn’t difficult for Jenny. She’d done countless simtions
for the surgery. Even if she closed her eyes, she could tell where the next incision
should be made. Nevertheless, Jenny felt a lot of pressure this time because the
thought of Helga’splicated life and Amy expectantly waiting outside the operating
room weighed on her.
Fortunately, the oue was a good one.
Four hourster, the surgery was over, and Helga was pushed into the ICU. As long
as she got through the first night after the operation, there would be no major
problemster.
Jenny felt that she hadn’t let Amy and Helga’s sister down. When she walked out of
the operating room and saw them, she felt a sense of relief.
“Dr. Walter, where’s my mom?” Amy asked.
“She has been transferred to a ward. You won’t be able to see her for the next few
days, but after that, your mom will be able to recover and be with you as you grow

up.” That was probably what Helga wanted the most.
Amy nodded and thanked her. “Thank you, Dr. Walter! You’re a good person.”
“This is what I should do. As you grow up, you must always remember to treat your
mother well.” Helga probably wouldn’t have made it this far if it weren’t for Amy.
Amy nodded like a little chick pecking at rice. Helga’s sister, who was standing at the
side, also thanked her, her eyes red.
Jenny beckoned to her and said, “Helga still needs to stay in the ICU for the next few
days, and the nurses will take care of her. You take Amy back and rest. When she is
transferred to the general ward in a few days, you’ll have to take care of her yourself.”
“Sure, Dr. Walter.” Helga’s sister nodded.
Jenny felt that Helga’s luck was not so bad after all.
Although she was sick and had met a heartless man, she had her sister and daughter,
so there was still a sense of hope for her in her life.
After everything was arranged, Jenny got up and walked toward her office. After she
changed her clothes, she was ready to end her shift.
She was exhausted from the surgery. Looking at the time and seeing that it was
almost 8 pm, she couldn’t help but feel that time passed quickly.
“Yesterday, you said you didn’t need to work overtime, but you’ve been busy until now.
Aren’t you tired, Dr. Walter?” The husky voice had sounded right beside Jenny before
Alec walked over and stood before her.
Jenny turned to look at the person who spoke, and her lips curled up into a smile.
“Why would I feel tired when doing what I love?”
“Okay, so Dr. Walter is sacrificing her personal life for the greater good. How
admirable.” Alec teased and pulled her toward his car.
“What do you want to eat? I have to properly reward the hardworking Dr. Walter.” Alec
started his car and turned to ask Jenny, who was seated in the passenger seat.
