Sokushinbutsu: Death's Spiral
She finally snaps out of her daze as the elevator opens, enticing her toward the large, metal gate. The moment she steps out, the doors behind her close shut, emphasizing the point of no return. She continues to convince herself that this situation is nothing but a bad dream, but despite the countless attempt to wake up, she still finds herself in front of the rusted gate, peering into the colosseum. 'It can't be true.' She lies to herself. 'It's impossible for the entire country to be controlled by corporations!'As the gate begins to open, all she could feel is her own heartbeat throbbing within her ears. 'Why... why did they have to choose me to represent them?' She cries aloud. 'If they want control of the country, then why must I be the one to die?'The guard motions her to enter the arena. She does as she's told, for disobedience is met with instant elimination. In front of her stands her opponent, a glint of bloodlust within his eyes. The countdown starts. She readies herself as she's done before; her opponent does the same. 'It's me or them.' She repeats over and over in her head. 'It's me or them.' For only one can become God when the clock strikes zero.
