    The deserted alleyway echoed with the sound of a resounding p that shattered the silence.


    Kisa''s eyes narrowed as she red coldly at the man before her. " Why are you trying to smear my


    name?"


    Thomas tilted his head, a reddish-purple handprint swelling on his cheek. "I''m sorry," he mumbled, his


    voice tinged with guilt.


    Kisaughed bitterly, a sad smile spreading across her face. "Your apologies mean nothing to me. I


    thought I had family in this world, but you betrayed me. You chose to stand with your biological father,


    and for what? To frame me? Why, Thomas? Why would you do this to your own sister?"


    "Because I''m not your brother!" Thomas interjected, his voice low and firm.


    Kisa''s eyes widened, shock written all over her face. "What do you mean you''re not my brother?"


    Thomas suddenly fell silent, his eyes avoiding her gaze.

    In an instant, Kisa lunged forward and grabbed his arm tightly. "Then who are you? Where''s my


    brother?" she demanded, desperation creeping into her voice.


    "Your bracelet and birthmark, they all match."


    "Everything''s fake," Thomas growled, his guilt weighing heavily on him.


    Kisa shook her head in disbelief. "How can that be?”


    Seeing that she was upset, Thomas softened his tone, trying to calm her down. "Come with me. Uncle


    Adrien won''t hurt you. He just wants to y a game."


    Kisa''sughter was tinged with sadness. "How can you say that he won''t hurt me?"


    ‘Do I seriously not have a single trustworthy person left by my side? Why does everyone seem to be


    turning against me? What the hell am I supposed to do now? How could I possibly save Madalyn and


    help Gilbert reim everything he has lost?"


    The sky above grew darker, as if the world was closing in on her. In that moment, Kisa felt herself


    slipping away, but not before catching a glimpse of Gilbert''s face. Yet, the anxious voice she heard


    belonged to Thomas, calling out her name.


    She woke up and immediately recognized that she was in David''s private mansion. The memories of


    what had happened before she passed out flooded her mind, causing her heart to ache.


    ‘Gilbert will never forgive me,'' she thought, staring nkly at the ceiling with a lifeless gaze.


    David''s chuckling voice suddenly broke the silence. "You''re finally awake."


    Kisa slowly turned her head toward the man sitting by the window.


    It suddenly dawned on her that Thomas had set her up when he helped her escape. ''No wonder I had


    managed to escape so smoothly that day. It was all because I had foolishly trusted Thomas.’


    David rang the call button on the table, and a servant brought in some food. "Eat up. You need to


    regain your strength after what you''ve been through," he said.


    Kisa''s lip curled in disgust. “You''re not fooling anyone with your fake concern."


    David chuckled. "Feisty as always, just like your mother."


    "Shut up! You have no right to even mention my mother!"


    ‘It was you who abandoned my mother, leaving her to suffer alone, and ultimately driving her to


    depression and death. And now, you have the nerve toe and inflict more pain on me. So, how dare


    you even think you have the right to utter my mother''s name in your filthy mouth?" she cried out in her


    mind. David''s eyes darkened as he got up and lit a cigarette. "Finish your meal. I''ll take you to see Mrs.


    Kooper Sr."


    Kisa hesitated, but eventually got out of bed and followed him. Madalyn was locked up in a remote


    warehouse, guarded by a group of intimidating bodyguards. The iron door was secured with arge


    padlock.


    Kisa''s eyes darted around the ce, her voice dripping with anger.


    "How could you do this to the woman who raised you? Locking her up in this godforsaken ce!"
