Chapter 889: Murder
Editor: Henyee Trantions
Gu Yang leaned back against the seat and looked out the window. Noticing the car wasn’t heading toward the Tong Family Manor, she tapped on the window rhythmically and asked, “This isn’t the way to the Tong Family Manor. Where are you taking me?”
The driver, initially intending to deceive Gu Yang, inadvertently revealed his n. “To hell!”
Seeing the bridge ahead through the rearview mirror, the driver stepped on the elerator, aiming to rush forward.
Gu Yang, already aware of his intentions, realized she needed to act quickly. The driver was intent on preventing her from calling for help.
Below the bridge, the Yuhe River flowed swiftly.
The driver, a skilled swimmer, had tampered with the car. The front doors were left unlocked so he could escape if needed. However, the two back seat doors were locked, ensuring that Gu Yang would be trapped in the car as it sank.
Even if Gu Yang managed to swim, escaping from this situation would be nearly impossible.
The car suddenly elerated, and Gu Yang was thrown back into the seat due to inertia.

She frowned and shouted, “Brake!”
The driver smirked. There was no way he was going to brake—he had no intention of stopping and was determined to keep his foot on the elerator.
But then something astonishing happened.
It was as if his body was no longer under his control. His foot, which was poised to press the elerator, instead mmed down on the brakes!
The car skidded to a sudden stop, propelled forward by inertia before finallying to rest on the pavement.
Fortunately, he avoided hitting anyone.
“Open the car door,” Gu Yangmanded.
Since her hemophilia had been treated, her physical condition had greatly improved. She had also been practicing hypnosis regrly, and her skills had advanced significantly.
Against an ordinary person like this driver, who wasn’t a Mutant, she could easily exert control through her hypnosis.
The driver tried to resist, but to his horror, he realized he was utterly powerless to control his own actions.
After getting out of the car, Gu Yang stood by the bridge and called the police.
Even if she hadn’t reported the incident, the driver’s erratic maneuver toward the sidewalk had already caught the attention of traffic police.
It wasn’t long before officers from the capital’s police station arrived on the scene.
Lin Ran, who was from the Mutant Department and was in the midst of negotiating a Mutant case with the police, came along upon hearing Gu Yang’s report.
The north wind was biting cold, and a mix of rain and snow fell steadily.
Gu Yang, d in a blue down jacket, stood by the bridge. The snow-white fluff on her cor contrasted with her fair skin, making her look like a delicate fairy in the snowstorm.
The driver, now squatting on the ground with his head in his hands, seemed defeated.
“Sister Gu, are you alright?” Lin Ran asked urgently as he exited the car and hurried over with an umbre.
“Sister Gu” was the sister of Young Master Xiao’s girlfriend, making her Young Master Xiao’s future sister-inw. If something happened to her in the capital, it would probably mean a very unpleasant New Year for him.
Gu Yang shook her head and pointed to the driver, who was still squatting on the ground. “I’m fine. But I need to report that he tried to murder me.”
Lin Ran visibly rxed upon hearing that Gu Yang was okay. As he nced at the driver, his peach blossom eyes narrowed with a mix of concern and irritation. This driver had been unlucky to target Gu Yang, especially given her connections.
“Sister, don’t worry. I’ll handle this and make sure you get an exnation,” Lin Ran assured her.
Gu Yang gave a slight nod in response.
At that moment, a woman in a police uniform stepped out of the driver’s seat of Lin Ran’s car. Her bright and heroic demeanor, along with hermanding presence, caught everyone’s attention.
Lin Ran’s eyebrows twitched as he saw her. “Chu Ying, despite our differences, please don’t make things difficult for me! Sister Gu is Young Master Xiao’s sister!”
