    After interrogating Satoshi, Yuga and Cythia were quite overwhelmed. Bilis, driven by greed, seemed willing to do anything for money. Without knowing what the Griseous Orb was, he dared to steal something from Articuno.

    Just when Yuga and Cythia thinking how to deal with Satoshi and Bilis, they suddenly felt a sense of dread and swiftly moved to the side.


    Two water arrows pierced the spots where they had been standing, prating Satoshi''s forehead and heart, as well as Bilis''s heart.


    Satoshi, in his unconscious state, lost his life without even a twitch, while Bilis, wide-eyed with terror, produced a harsh gurgling sound in his throat before tilting his head and losing his breath.


    Seeing Satoshi and Bilis dead, Yuga and Cythia both gasped in horror. If they hadn''t reacted quickly, they would have suffered the same fate.


    What astonished them even more was that as soon as Satoshi and Bilis perished, a mysterious Fross appeared above them. This Fross had an eerie red gleam in its eyes, and Satoshi and Bilis turned into lifeless corpses one after the other.


    Yuga recognized this as the symptom of life energy being drained – they were witnessing it firsthand.


    After absorbing Satoshi and Bilis''s life energy, the eerie Fross let out a satisfied breath and then turned its greedy gaze toward Yuga and Cythia.


    Lapras and Garchomp immediately stepped in front of Yuga and Cythia, vignt and watching the Fross closely.


    However, the Fross didn''t attack the two of them; instead, it drifted toward the fallen Toxicroak, Weavile, and Drapion, among other Pokémon. In the blink of an eye, it turned them all into lifeless corpses.


    As it absorbed a significant amount of life energy, the Fross''s eyes grew increasingly red, and the red sash around its waist seemed as if it might drip blood at any moment.


    This is a mutated Fross, and it''s an evil Pokémon that thrives by absorbing life energy, both Yuga and Cythia thought to themselves.


    Ghost-type Pokémon often have the ability to absorb the life energy of other creatures, but they typically don''t actively drain life energy from others. At most, some less controlled Ghost-types might inadvertently absorb the life energy of their surroundings.


    Apart from that, only a few Ghost-type Pokémon take such malevolent paths, like this Fross.


    The Fross, with a reluctant expression, shifted its gaze away from Yuga and Cythia and drifted behind them. When the two turned their heads, they saw a Golduck standing by the edge of the pond.


    The two of them suddenly realized that it was this Golduck, the one responsible for killing Satoshi and Bilis. In fact, it had targeted the two of them.


    The Fross floated next to the Golduck, and a faint red thread appeared, connecting them. The elderly Golduck''s body began to visibly rejuvenate before their eyes.


    Its pale fur regained its deep blue hue, its frail ws became sharp again, the ruby on its forehead gleamed brightly, its once-clouded eyes gradually regained their luster, and they brimmed with a cold, menacing intent.


    As it turned out, this mutated Fross possessed a unique ability—it could share the life energy it absorbed with another Pokémon through a Destiny Bond move.


    Over the years, this elderly, ailing Golduck had been kept alive through the Fross''s ability.


    Back when the Fross was still a Snorunt, it had been rescued by the elderly Golduck. Even the Dawn Stone it used for evolution had been a gift from the Golduck.


    This particr Dawn Stone was a unique one, discovered by the Golduck atop the Snowpeak Mountain''s summit, and it emitted a distinct Ghost-type energy.


    Thanks to this special Dawn Stone, the Snorunt had experienced a mutation during evolution and gained the ability to share life energy.


    In gratitude to the Golduck, the Fross had hunted many Pokémon on the Snowpeak Mountain, absorbing their life energy to keep the elderly Golduck alive.


    However, this method of prolonging life was highly draining on life energy, which meant that the Golduck would age and weaken again after a certain period.


    Although the Golduck could stay alive, it didn''t want to die, so it became increasingly obsessed with extending its lifespan. Leveraging its formidable strength, it, along with the Fross, was responsible for the deaths of many Pokémon and adventurers who ventured into the Snowpeak Mountain.


    If Yuga and Cythia were to inspect the pond where the Golduck resided at this moment, they would find a substantial umtion of Pokémon and human skeletons at the bottom.


    When Bilis, Satoshi, and Midori entered the valley earlier, the Golduck had already regarded them as potential reserves. The Fross had been absent for a while, allowing the trio to survive a bit longer.


    Last night, when Yuga and Cythia confronted Bilis and the others, they inadvertently alerted the Golduck. The Golduck, unhappy with its prey fighting among themselves, so it took action.


    Coincidentally, the Fross returned during the night. It sensed that the time hade, as it was also entering a weakened state and needed an energy boost.


    Therefore, after Bilis and the others were defeated, the Golduckunched a direct assault on Yuga and Cythia, but these two were highly perceptive and managed to dodge its Water Gun attack.


    "It seems this Golduck has no intention of letting us go," Yuga remarked to Cythia.


    "I never expected to encounter such Pokémon on Snowpeak Mountain,"


    Cythia nodded in agreement and prepared herself for battle alongside Garchomp. The thought of these two Pokémon making their way down to Machina or Celestic Town was unthinkable.


    Yuga observed the Golduck and Fross in front of them, recalled Lapras, and summoned Gengar. With a sh of colorful light, Gengarpleted its Mega Evolution.


    This marked the first time Yuga had allowed Gengar to Mega Evolve in front of others.


    Under normal circumstances, Yuga''s strongest Pokémon was naturally Lapras. While Lapras''s level was in the Intermediate of Elite level, itsbat strength was almost on par with ordinary peak Elite level Pokémon.


    Gengar, at the Intermediate Elite level, would rise to the peak Elite level after Mega Evolution, not much weaker than Lapras.


    Dealing with the Water-type Golduck and the Ghost-type Fross, Gengar was a more suitable choice. Besides, coordinating Ice/Water-type Lapras with Cythia''s Dragon/Ground-type Garchomp would not be ideal.


    The opposing Golduck was an experienced Champion level Pokémon, and there was no room for an error.


    However, the Fross appeared to have unique abilities but was not of a high level, barely entering the Elite level. It seemed content to let the Golduck take charge of the battle, as it remained hidden behind it.


    Seeing Yuga''s Gengar undergoing Mega Evolution surprised Cythia. She had been searching for Garchomp''s Mega Evolution Stone but hadn''t heard any news about it.


    The Temple had Mega Evolution Stones for other Pokémon, but obtaining one for her Pseudo-Legendary Garchomp was proving to be quite challenging. Otherwise, it would undoubtedly make her journey to be a League Champion much easier.
