Chapter 17


    Alyssa was surprised. It took her a long time to resister what was happening. She looked at the


    bodyguard for some minutes, wondering if she was dreaming.


    So did Emmett finally want to see her?


    A part of her was happy because she was finally going to see her husband. But the part of her felt an


    indescribable uneasiness.


    It was rumored that Emmett was extremely fickle and cold. If she met him, could she be able to control


    him? Or could she be able to live a normal life with him?


    Lots of questions were wondering in her head, as she knocked on the door of the study.


    She stepped into the study and before she could observe the situation inside, she heard a voice of a


    man.


    “Frank, who is it?”


    The voice was very hoarse just like a desert which had gone years without water. It was quite terrifying.


    As the voice fade, a suited man standing beside the table stared at her and said, “Master, it’s Madame,


    your wife.”


    It was only then Alyssa observed the situation inside the room. The room was ck and white, low key


    but luxurious. There was nothing too special in but one couldn’t avoid its charm.


    And on the chair behind the big desk, a strong man was sitting with his back to her.


    She could see the man’s head protruding from the chair and his arms resting on the armrest. But no


    matter how much she tried, she could not take a nce on the man’s face.


    But she could see, it was arge man.


    It was Emmett Lawrence!


    Frank looked at her quietly, “Young Madam.”


    “You are Frank?” She just heard Emmett call him with this name.


    He simply nodded, without any words.

    There was a dead silence in the room. She couldn’t see Emmett but she could feel that cold aura


    emitting from his body. It was enough to make her scared. She couldn’t help but lower her head.

    Alyssa was stunned for a moment and then realized that he was talking to her.

    “We chatted casually and talked about you…” Alyssa paused and said carefully, “He cares about you

    say that he cared about Emmett very much.

    want to look at her face.

    because of his injury. Although nothing had happened, she couldn’t exin it to Emmett. So it was


    better not to say it.

    She bit her lips, stepped forward stood closer to Emmett, and bravely said, “Emmett, can you turn


    around?”


    If he turned around, she could see his face.


    As soon as she finished, she felt that the atmosphere in the room became colder. She held her breath


    and her hands started to sweat. Seeing Emmett didn’t speak, she quickly added.


    “I have no malice. I just mean we will be together for a lifetime and that we will get to know each other


    sooner orter. So, I really don’t mind your physical condition. It doesn’t matter if you have scars or you


    are disabled…”


    Emmett was stunned when he heard those words. This was the first time he had heard someone say


    this to him.


    He slightly crooked his lips and his voice filled with malice and disgust, “You may not care but I find you


    ugly and disgusting.”
