    Kenya headed towards the lifts. Within seconds, four women materialised around her.


    “How do you know Nate?” asked one of them, blocking her way.


    “Excuse me. Ah, well, he was my workmate,” said Kenya.


    “You mean at the inn?” asked another woman.


    “Yes, the Inn,” Kenya hesitated. “Anyway. It’s a long story.”


    The women were not friendly. They inspected her clothes.


    Kenya’s cheeks flushed, and she covered her chest and stomach with her hands.

    They caged her in.


    “Please… please…” she said, pushing them as she headed to the lift.


    Kenya’s eyes shot wide with fear. The rest of the club members were oblivious. A few glanced her way and smiled.


    Members approached the women, forcing them to greet their friends. Kenya took that opportunity to bolt. But two of them ran after her. Kenya crossed a vast room. The lady of the giant ballgown was there. Kenya hid underneath her voluminous skirt. She breathed a sigh of relief. Until the lady moved and exposed her. Then she flew down the side spiral stairway, her heart pounding as she rounded each corner. Scanning the corridors in search of a spot to hide.


    Turning a corner, she found Nate there, offering his hand in reassurance.


    Nate’s voice was urgent. “Come with me.”


    “Why are tho-” she stopped to breathe. “Why are those women so scary?”


    “I can’t explain now, but trust me. It’s not safe here. Even for me,” he said, guiding her towards the end of the corridor.


    She took his hand, and he led her through another spiral staircase towards the cellars.


    “Nate, why were you pretending to be so drunk?” asked Kenya.


    “No time to explain. Follow me.”
