Many issues could have been solved if Marietta’s biological daughter had been Caroline.
Caroline brought a nket out from the bedroom and draped it over Marietta. She took Kirk’s hand and
whispered, “Let’s turn in.” They should let Marietta rest.
Upon entering the bedroom, Kirk immediately wrapped an arm around Caroline’s waist. Sensing his
intention, she quickly pressed her hands against his chest to stop him.
“Don’t. Mom’s still outside,” she warned.
A smirk yed on his lips as he gripped her hands and said, “I wasn’t nning on doing anything,
though. What were you thinking, darling?”
A blush crept up Caroline’s cheeks. A momentter, she spoke, “I wonder if Yvonne will ept Marietta
as her mother.”
“Márietta spent half of her life searching for her daughter. Now that she’s finally found her daughter, she
won’t be able to take it if her daughter can’t return with her.”
Kirk tugged at Caroline, urging her to sit on the bed. “Don’t worry about it too much. Marietta’s no
ordinary woman. She must’ve expected this, so she’ll be able to snap out of it real soon.”
“Kirk,” said Caroline as she rested her head on his shoulder. “Why do you think there are so many bad
endings in this world?”
Kirk felt his heart ache at her words, and he pulled her into a tight embrace. They didn’t talk for the rest
of the night.
When Marietta woke up the next morning, she seemed as lively as she had always been. Caroline still
sensed that Marietta hadn’t fully recovered fromst night’s incident. She thought that Marietta was
merely putting on this act because she didn’t want them to worry.
“What do you n to do today, Mom?” Caroline asked. She told Cheryl she wouldn’t be going to work
today and would stay home to keep Mariettapany.
“Nothing, I guess,” Marietta said. “There’s no work for me to do these few days.”
“How about we go shopping?” Caroline suggested. “You’ve been here awhile and I still haven’t shown
you around”
“Sure,” Marietta happily obliged.
After breakfast, Caroline asked Kirk to join them, and the three began their journey. Naturally, the task
of driving fell to Kirk.
“I never thought I’d see the day when I would be riding in your car,” said Marietta in the backseat.

“You resigned?” Shock washed over Marietta’s face. She wondered why she knew nothing of the
change of ownership in the SY Group.
“That’s right.” Kirk didn’t feel like exining himself, so he said, “Darling, help me turn on the
navigation.”
“Okay,” said Caroline. She leaned in closer to him to help set the application up.
Their intimate actions put a smile on Marietta’s face. She feltforted at the sight of them. It was as
though Caroline and Kirk had the ability to soothe her when she was feeling down.
Warmth and tranquility filled the air in the car. Unbeknownst to them, a hugemotion had started on
various social media tforms.
Just a couple of days ago, everyone was talking about how Eddy had helped La take over the
Collins Group. She had helped restore the Evans family back to their glorious days.
Since then, the tables have turned. Some people imed that they saw Eddy heading to Evans Group.
Others said that La was arrested by the cops..
As there wasn’t a single picture to prove these ims, it was all chalked up to hearsay.
Eventually, Caroline and La’s supporters argued with one another. It created such a stir. As a result,
