Chapter 512
Chapter 512
“Darling!” Kirk grabbed Caroline’s shoulders.
“Lister to me. I’m not Eddy’s second uncle.”
His words amused Caroline. She said, “Is that so? Kirk, I can’t believe you’re still trying to fool me now.
Let me ask you. Is Daphne your other wife?”
Kirk didn’t want to admit it, but she had undeniable evidence, so he could only nod.
“Since Daphne is Eddy’s second uncle’s wife, and she’s your wife, doesn’t that make you Eddy’s
second uncle? I can still draw simple conclusions like this, you know.”
“No, things aren’t as simple as you imagine.” Kirk pinched the bridge of his nose.
“I’m really not Eddy’s second uncle.”
Carolineughed again when she heard his words. She looked at him. “Okay, since you said you’re not
his second uncle, exin why Daphne is your wife.”
Kirk let out a harsh breath. As he faced Caroline’s hostile gaze, he clenched his fists.
As if he had made a big decision, he said, “Since things have reached this point, I have no reason
to hide this from you any longer.”
Caroline stared at Kirk, unphased. She wanted to find out what other lies he coulde up with.
“Remember that I told you I was abroad to handle mypany’s affairs some time ago?”
Caroline raised an eyebrow. She somewhat remembered him telling her that. “I do. What about it?”
“Actually, Eddy’s second uncle, SY Group’s president, gave me thispany!”
Caroline scoffed, unconvinced.
Kirk wasn’t phased by her response at all. He continued, “Don’t you feel strange about why I
returned to Easton despite being born and raised abroad?”
Caroline straightened up. She couldn’t resist asking, “Why?”
“Because I’m from SY Group.” Kirk slowly let go of Caroline’s shoulders.
“Back then, SY Group wanted to build up a new market in Easton, but they couldn’t just drop
Kirk was telling the truth. SY Group sent some people to get ay of thend before they could develop
a new market in Easton.
“What does this have to do with thepany you mentioned?”
“This concerns Mr. Morrison Senior, Eddy’s grandfather.”
Kirk exined, “Some time ago, Mr. Morrison Senior had been nagging Eddy’s second uncle about
marriage.
“So he got annoyed and asked Daphne to pose as his wife to shut Mr. Morrison Senior up. To prevent
the man from bing suspicious, he had to use a marriage certificate from Macldo as
proof.”
Caroline’s gaze was cold as she questioned, “Doesn’t that just prove you’re SY Group’s president?”
She had read that document. Kirk’s photo had been on it.
Kirk said, “No. Although my picture was on that document, I’m really not SY Group’s president.
Well, forget it. I’ll just show you the contract.”
Caroline took the contract Kirk handed over, feeling confused.
There were two documents. One was a contract of Eddy’s second uncle handing over King
Corporations, one of SY Group’s branchpanies, to Kirk’s father.
They had done it on the condition that Kirk and Daphne register themselves as spouses.
N?velDrama.Org content rights.
The other document was a non–disclosure agreement. Kirk and Ivan couldn’t tell anyone this
secret. Otherwise, they would have to pay a penalty of 200 million dors.
Caroline was utterly confused. “What the hell is the meaning of this?”
Kirk swallowed nervously. He looked into Caroline’s eyes, a trace of stress swirling in his gaze.
“He needed a fake marriage certificate as proof, but he couldn’t actually register a marriage with
Daphne. If he did, Daphne had the legal right to take away a part of his property after the divorce.
“So he decided to get a subordinate to register the marriage on his behalf.”
He continued, “Then, using the real marriage certificate, he forged a believable, false certificate to
fool Mr. Morrison Senior.”
“Why did he choose you among the many subordinates he has?”
“Because both of us are Eastonian, and we have the samest name. It’s easier for him to modify
the certificate like that.”
Caroline didn’t say anything else.
Kirk was tense and anxious. He kept staring at Caroline.
This was the best exnation he had been able toe up with after an entire day. If Caroline
didn’t believe him, he was doomed.
