    Sean looked straight at Gwen.


    His piercing gaze made Gwen’s heart pound uncontrobly, and she stammered, “B–Besides what?

    “Do you think Kirk will hurt Caroline?” Sean smiled gently.


    Gwen pursed her lips. As she looked at his sincere gaze, she couldn’t go against his will.


    The temperature on her cheeks slowly rose. Worried about being seen through, she impatiently


    shook off Sean’s hand.


    “Okay, I got it. I won’t get involved. You never stop nagging. I shouldn’t call you Dr. Yates anymore.


    I’ll call you Grandma Yates instead.”


    Sean wasn’t annoyed by her nickname at all. Instead, he grinned. “You can call me whatever you


    want, as long as you enjoy it.”


    After a pause, he continued, “But only you can call me that.”


    His exclusive im tugged at Gwen’s feelings. She felt the warmth on her cheek and tried to


    ignore her heart, which was about to leap out of her throat.


    “You’re a smart guy. But this trick won’t work on just anyone.” With that, she jerked her hand


    away from Sean and got out of the car.


    Sean was silent. After a while, he realized Gwen had taken his words as flirting. But in truth, he


    had been speaking from the bottom of his heart.


    He shook his head with a sigh. Everyone was right. Being in love was difficult.


    Kirk carried Caroline into his room. This room was the same presidential suite he had bookedst


    time.

    As Caroliney on the familiar bed, she felt like time had flown. Back then, she had gotten the message

    “Here. Drink some water.” Kirk helped Caroline up.


    He held the cup and slowly fed Caroline sips of water. He watched her gently, without any trace of


    impatience in his eyes.


    After she drank the water, Kirk asked again, “Do you want to eat anything? I’ll get the chefs to make


    them for you.”


    Caroline silently looked up at Kirk. After a long while, she said, “Don’t you have anything to ask me?”


    Acting as if nothing had happened, Kirk said calmly, “You can talk whenever you’re ready.”


    Caroline looked at Kirk nkly. He didn’t avoid the topic, and he didn’t look like he was lying.


    “I’ll ask someone to bring some food over. What do you want to eat?” Kirk caressed Caroline’s


    forehead.


    “Don’t you want to know what happened?”


    Caroline didn’t feelfortable about Kirk not asking her anything. It felt as if something was stuck in


    her chest.


    “Everyone has their secrets. Even though we’re husband and wife, we’re still our own person.”


    Caroline closed her eyes. “Is it because you have a secret that you’re not asking me anything?”


    Although she knew Kirk wasn’t someone like that, she couldn’t help but think about him this way.


    It was as if this was the only way to bring him down to her level.
