    Chapter 160

    Chapter 160

The return trip was scheduled for two dayster. Ivan and the Mendeley family went to see Kirk and

    Caroline off.

Only Ivan and Bryan were sincerely saddened by their departure. Adam and Lia had only shown up

    because they were family friends.

“Caroline.” Bryan pulled her aside. “Avery has a gift for you, but she wanted me to give it to you in

private. I’m not supposed to let Kirk know about it.”

Caroline had noticed Avery’s absence, but she’d chosen not to question it.

Now that Bryan brought up the topic, she couldn’t help but ask, “Why didn’t she give it to me

    herself?”

Bryan scratched his head. “I asked. She said she couldn’t show up in front of you. I don’t know

    what that means. Anyway…”

He handed Caroline an exquisite gift. “I’vepleted my mission.”

Caroline weighed the gift in her hands. It was rather heavy. She wondered what was inside, but

she believed it wouldn’t be anything good.

    Content property of N?velDra/ma.Org.

“Caroline.” Bryan was blushing. “When will you be back again?”

She replied, “I don’t know either. I’ll visit when I have the time. If you’re free,e and visit me at

    Easton.”

“Oh, can I? Sure, you must see me if I ever go to Easton.”

Kirk frowned at the sight of the two chatting and smiling. Ever since theirst WhatsApp

message, he hadn’t spoken to Caroline.

He gave Charles a look. Charles took the hint and went up to Caroline. “Mrs. Morrison, it’s time to

    board the flight.”

She checked the time. “But there’s an hour left.”

Charles chuckled dryly. “Why not wait for takeoff in the first–ss area then? We’ve spent a

fortune on it. Might as well enjoy it.”

She was convinced by his persuasion. After chatting with Bryan and saying goodbye to Ivan, she

Kirk stared at her with a helpless smile and followed her toward the gate.

They flew home to Osbury without speaking to each other andnded at 3 am.

Since they had first–ss seats, the experience was smooth. Caroline felt like time had flown by when

they finally left the ne, Only Kirk’s presence dampened the mood.

She was about to take her luggage, but Charles acted fast. “Mrs. Morrison, leave that to me.

Seeing that he had picked up Kirk’s luggage, she replied, “It’s okay. I can do it myself.”

Right after that, Kirk showed up in front of her and dragged her luggage with him. His slender figure

and the pink luggage in his hand looked like aicalbination.

She fell silent and looked away, but she followed behind him.

After walking for a while, she noticed that they weren’t headed toward the airport exit. Still

refusing to speak to Kirk, she turned to Charles. “Where are we going?”

Charles shed a mysterious smile. “Just follow Mr. Morrison.”

She had no choice but to do so. A whileter, she realized that they might be taking a privatene. She

wanted to ask questions, but Charles had gone up to Kirk and opened a door for him.

It was a different world out there–a ce so quiet that it seemed to be separate from the rest of

the world. A ck Mercedes–Benz was parked near the exit.

Charles ced the luggage in the trunk and opened the door at the back. “Please.”

Caroline checked out the interior of the car and was about to get into the front passenger seat.

However, Kirk grabbed her wrist, making her fall into his arms.

She pushed against his chest in embarrassment, Frowning, he closed the door behind them.

Charles checked the surroundings to ensure that they weren’t followed. Then, he got into the car

and drove Kirk and Caroline to the vi.

Caroline moved her arms away from Kirk’s embrace. Still, he remained motionless, staring at her with

his dark eyes. His eyes were gleaming with an unreadable look.

During the trip, neither of them spoke to the other. Charles noticed the flirtatious air and quietly put

    down the divider.

With his hand on her waist, Kirk was very tempted. He sucked on her lips. She tasted lovely, like a juicy

    fruit

    Ouch!

He tasted a metallic scent in his mouth. Squinting, he slowly sat up and wiped his lips

It wasn’t until Caroline saw the red stain on his lips that she realized what she had done.

She cowered in the corner of the car like a fearful rabbit. Hershes trembled.

He nced at her. “You’re a coward. Why did you bite me then?”

“Well, you- Blushing, she stole a nce at Charles in the driver’s seat and held her tongue. She

    looked away and ignored Kirk.

Meanwhile, Kirk leaned against the armrest and admired Caroline’s reflection in the window.

In the dark, her oval face was covered. Her dark hair scattered smoothly across her shoulders. Her

misty eyes seemed to glisten under the glow of the street lights.

When they arrived at the vi, Charles moved everything into the house before joining Kirk

outside. Kirk lit a cigarette. Its reddish glow burned rapidly in the night.

“Do you want to tell Mrs. Morrison that Howard Collins is looking for you?”

Kirk gave Charles a side–eye, his intentions clear.

“From today, we shall increase the security at Thome Corporation Pick her up on time after work

every day. And send some bodyguards to follow her around”

    Charles nodded “Sure.”

He couldn’t help but nce at the second floor. “Are you fighting with Mrs. Morrison?”

He had noticed the tension a few days ago but dared not ask.

Kirk put out the cigarette and remarked, “You’re a busybody.”

    “Sorry.”

The silence grew in the dark. Soon, Kirk kicked a stone and asked Charles, “You’re married, arent

    you?”

    Yeah

“Do you fight with your wife?”

Of course,” Charles answered. “It’s normal for husband and wife to fight. Not fighting means that

you don’t care about each other, like she doesn’t matter to you.”

That was Kirk’s first time hearing that idea. He lit another cigarette in front of his eyes. “Go on.”

Charles added, “So, it’s okay to fight. More importantly, you need to resolve the situation. For example,

if you forgot your anniversary, just get her another gift and coax her. That’s how you put it behind you.

May I ask the reason behind your fight with Mrs. Morrison?”

Kirk’s face was enveloped by the smoke. He said coolly, “I suggested that she marry another man

Charles was secretly baffled and amazed by Kirk’s actions. Kirk just had a way to dig his own

    grave.
