“Caroline!”
Evan’s hoarse voice reached Caroline’s ears. She turned to see Evan and Alex approaching in a hurry.
Astonished, she asked, “What are you doing here?”
Evan looked solemn, anxiety in his eyes. “How are the children?”
Caroline shared the truth. “I think they should be fine, but I never expected Danie to be so malicious.”
Alex scanned the surroundings. “Caroline, where’s Paige?”
Caroline replied, “She’s waiting outside the examination room with the children.”
Alex offered, “I’ll keep thempany while you talk. We can have lunch togetherter!”

After Alex left, Evan noticed Caroline’s swollen eyes and felt a pang in his heart. “Why didn’t you tell
me about this? Why did you have to go through it alone?”
Caroline lowered her gaze. “I only had the children in mind at the time. I couldn’t think of anything else.”
Evan reached out and held Caroline’s cold hand. “Let me get you a cup of coffee to wake you up.”
They ordered two cups of coffee from a nearby cafe. As Caroline took a sip, she felt the coldness
soothing her throat.
“Evan…” She looked at him.
“Hmm, go ahead,” Evan replied.
Caroline hesitated. “Now that you know Danie orchestrated this, will you still choose to save her?”
Evan’s eyes turned cold. “The current n can’t be changed, not yet. It’s for the greater good. But rest
assured, I deal with her personally once this matter is resolved.”
Caroline gripped her cup. “It’s ironic that we have to rely on Danie’s help after all the harm she’s
caused.
“It’s not ironic. If you rece ‘help‘ with ‘use‘, it might change your perspective,” Evan said as they
walked back to the hospital.
Caroline was taken aback but then smiled. “That does make sense.”
Evan’s gaze lingered on her smile for a moment. “So, you can crack a genuine smile in my presence.
Evan smiled and joined her to meet the children in a cheerful mood.
The incident involving Naomi trended on social media quickly. However, Danie remained unaffected
as Draco had intervened to secure her release.
Danie faced a harsh rebuke from Draco due to the incident at Jordan Residence.
“You’re insane! Dealing with Caroline is your business! How dare you take it out on the children?!” he
eximed.
Although he didn’t have a soft spot for Caroline, he held a special fondness for the two children,
especially the bright and sensible Tyler.
Danie’s face turned ghastly pale, and she couldn’t muster the courage to respond.
Draco narrowed his eyes and continued. “If you ever behave this atrociously again, I won’t hesitate to
take you to the police station. I can do what I want even without you!”
Danie’s heart raced, and she met Draco’s gaze. “Why do you care so much when they aren’t your
grandchildren?”
“Shut up! My decisions aren’t up to you! Get back upstairs!” Draco yelled.
Danie gnashed her teeth, obeyed, and headed upstairs. She bit her finger in frustration as she
closed the door. She never expected Naomi to be such a failure!
