    After getting into the car, Alex turned to Evan and asked, “What did you say to my father that made him


    agree so easily?”


    Evan leaned back and closed his eyes. “Be quiet.”


    Alex didn’t press for more information. After all, he was thankful to Evan for handling the task.


    Once home, Alex shared the good news with Paige.


    Paige didn’t disy much emotion, but she saidzily, “It’s good that you’ve resolved the issue.”


    Alex furrowed his brow, puzzled. “You don’t seem too happy about it, huh?”


    Paige sighed. “Do you want me to burst with excitement? Don’t forget that we haven’t exined things


    to my parents yet.”


    Paige worried about how her parents would react to the news. She thought, ‘Even though my parents


    are good people, their thinking is conservative. If they find out I’m pregnant out of wedlock…”


    Paige couldn’t fathom the consequences, so how could she be happy?


    Alex reassured her, “It’s simple. We’ll set a time, I’ll get some gifts, and we’ll visit them. I’m here. Don’t


    bel scared.”


    Paige forced a smile and quietly huddled on the sofa.


    Later in the afternoon, Naomi knocked and entered Caroline’s office as she sorted through documents.


    “Ms. Shenton, the receptionist called to inform me that someone wants to see you,” Naomi said.


    Caroline looked up. “Who?”


    “Zeke Jung.”


    Caroline was surprised. “Mr. Zeke? Why did hee unannounced?‘


    Caroline quickly stood up. “Please bring him up and make it fast!”


    Naomi nodded. She was about to leave when Caroline stopped her. “Hold on! I’ll do it myself!”


    Caroline left her office and headed downstairs to wee Zeke.


    Zeke and Siobhan sat in the lobby, waiting for Caroline. They stood to greet her when she approached.


    “Caroline,” Zeke greeted her with a smile.


    Caroline extended her hand. “Mr. Zeke, Shiv, why didn’t you let us know you wereing? I could’ve


    picked you up.”


    Siobhan smiled and said, “I apologize for disrupting your busy day, madam.”

    Caroline reassured them. “It’s fine. I’m not very busy anyway.


    Zeke exined, “Shiv and I were concerned you’d be busy, so we didn’t call ahead. I hope we haven’t


    disturbed your work.”


    Caroline said, “Not at all. Let’s head upstairs. After I make some arrangements, I’ll treat you to a meal.”


    The three of them went upstairs. Zeke took a moment to admire Caroline’s office space.


    “The design and decoration of yourpany are very cozy,” Zekemented.


    Caroline smiled. “You’re too kind, Mr. Zeke. My ce is quite humblepared to yourrge


    company.”


    Zekeplimented her, “You’re too humble. Everyone has a different style, but I can see that your


    ce is designed for the convenience of the employees.”


    Caroline shared her philosophy. “The employees are at the core of thepany. They’ll be in the mood


    to work when they feel asfortable as they do at home.”


    Zeke acknowledged, “I should learn from you on this.”


    Caroline poured coffee for Zeke and asked Naomi to prepare a ss of fresh juice for Siobhan.


    “Please have a seat, Mr. Zeke. I’ll be back after making a call,” Caroline said.


    Zeke nodded. “Sure, go ahead.”


    Caroline left the office and called Kenny.


    Kenny picked up, sounding busy, “What’s going on, G?”


    Caroline exined, “Take a break from work for a moment. Mr. Jung is here with his daughter. Come


    join us for a meal and take over the evening meeting at thepany.”


    Kenny was shocked, “What? Mr. Jung is there? His daughter, too?”
