the call came from Hector Hendrix, not Casey.

Hector said coldly. “Sleeping? Are you cking off? You don’t n to go after Caroline anymore?”
Danie was stunned. In the past, she was the one who took the initiative to ask Hector for help to deal
with Caroline. Why was Hector now reaching out to her for that purpose?
Danie said, “Mr. Hendrix, you’re mistaken I hate her so much I can’t wait to see her vanish from
the face of this world! It’s just that I haven’t had the time yet.”
Hector sneered. “You don’t have time? Or are you just afraid Evan will get hurt in the process?
That was strange. Why did Hector suddenly mention Evan’s name?
Danie quickly defended herself. “Of course not. He drove me away so heartlessly. How can I not
hate him?”
Hector said, “In that case, make good use of the opportunity you have to kill two birds with one.

Danie was puzzled “Mr. Hendrix, I don’t quite understand what you mean…
Mr. Hendrix scoffed. “Didn’t Casey already tell you about his family’s scandal?”
Danie’s eyes widened in shock.
Was he talking about Evan’s mother’s secret? But how did Hector know about it? Was he
monitoring her?!
Clutching her chest as her heart raced, Danie stammered, “Y–Yes. 1–I get it.”

After hanging up, Danie stared at her phone in a daze.
Hector had sent her that phone, and he must have been monitoring her to know about Evan’s mother.
She couldn’t make any reckless moves now. Otherwise, with Hector’s capabilities, she might end up in
trouble.

When Evan woke up, he saw Caroline curled up on the sofa.

Reuben nodded. He picked up the nket beside him and was about to cover Caroline with it
when she opened her eyes
“There’s no need to trouble yourself,” she said sleepily. Then, she sat up and looked at Evan. “Don’t
pull out the needle. Make sure the IV drip finishes)
Evan’s expression softened “Alright Come over and have breakfast.”
“No, thank you.” Caroline looked at her watch. “It’s gettingte. I have to go to the office. Have a good
rest.”
Evan’s expression instantly turned cold. “How long can breakfast take? Or is it that as the vice.
president, Kenny, can’t even handle the most basic internal affairs of thepany?”
Caroline stopped in her tracks. She suppressed the urge to retort.
She reminded herself that Evan had saved her life, so she shouldn’t argue with him if she could
avoid it.
Caroline controlled her temper and replied, “Kenny can carry his own weight, I’m sure. But that doesn’t
mean I should be idle. Since I was absent the entire day yesterday, he’s been busy enough. I’ll take the
breakfast with me. Is that eptable?”
As she spoke, Caroline walked to Evan’s bedside, picked up a bag of breakfast, and was about to
leave.

Evan looked at Reuben coldly. “Was I being too harsh?”
Reuben was speechless, but his boss had asked him a question. There was no way he could avoid
answering.
Reuben braced himself and said, “Managing thepany sounds pretty…”
“I didn’t ask you any other questions!” Evan shouted in a low voice.
Reuben stammered, “Y–You were rather harsh. Ms. Shenton just wanted to go to thepany. She
didn’t say she wanted to see Kenny. You were the one who mentioned it first…
Evan frowned. “Didn’t she imply it?”
“No…” Reuben sighed. “Mr. Jordan, don’t you go to thepany every day to work?”

“Is her smallpany as busy as mine?” Evan asked.
At the mention of this, Reuben became serious. “Mr. Jordan, I have to say that in the fashion Industry,
Ms. Shenton’spany’s quarterly sales have far exceeded MK’s current quarterly sales.
“Furthermore, MK’s sales for the newly designed products have hit an all–time low.”
Evan narrowed his eyes. “Caroline’spany has the highest quarterly sales in the global fashion
market?”
“Yes! MK is currently in second ce,” Reuben replied. “The recent incident involving Ms.
Shenton has garnered a lot of attention and indirectly boosted thepany’s image. Of course,
Kenny’s design skills are one of the contributing factors.”

Just as Caroline arrived at TYC, Naomi knocked on her office door and walked in
“Ms. Shenton, there’s someone waiting for you in the reception area.”
Caroline was puzzled. It was only 830 am. Who woulde looking for her so early?
Caroline walked toward the reception area and pushed open the door. She saw Jamie in a white
dress sitting on a chair. On the table next to her, there was a thermos sk.
When she saw Caroline, Jamie quickly picked up the thermos sk and stood up. “Carol, I brought
you some soup.”
Caroline was surprised to see her. “Jamie, why did youe without calling me first?”

were drenched in the rainst night.
