    Alex was left speechless. He responded, “By the way, you’ve been looking into Caroline’s


    backgroundtely. Do you suspect that she was the one who saved you?”


    “Mhmm.” Evan was straightforward with Alex.


    “I don’t believe in so many coincidenazces. On the other hand, Danie doesn’t seem familiar to me.”


    “What did Caroline say?” Alex continued to inquire.


    “She told me she doesn’t remember what happened that year.”


    Alex fell into deep thought. “Could there have been some kind of ident in between?”


    At the mention of that, Evan fell silent for a moment.


    “Reuben discovered that Caroline was hospitalized for a period of time during her childhood.”


    Suddenly, something clicked in Alex’s mind.


    “That could very well be the reason for her memory loss,” Alex suggested. “I think it would be wise


    to have someone investigate her hospitalization in detail.”


    Evan narrowed his eyes and after a while, he took out his phone and sent a text to Reuben.

    On Thursday, after submitting her design, Caroline asked Paige to apany her for a prenatal


    check–up at a rural hospital.


    With four months into her pregnancy, her belly was starting to show a slight bulge.


    The doctor smiled wryly andmented, “It’s hard to find a woman in Angelbay City with such a


    discreet baby bump. Not to mention, you’re carrying triplets!” 1


    Caroline and Paige smiled but didn’t respond.


    After leaving the hospital, Paige touched Caroline’s belly and suggested, “I think you should start


    wearing looser clothes.”


    Caroline agreed, “You’re right. Since I’m pregnant with triplets, I need to wear loose–fitting clothes to


    hide it well ”


    “Let’s go shopping then.”


    Paige pulled Caroline into the car and they headed to a shopping mall.

    They took the elevator to the third floor, where the maternity and baby section was located. There,


    Caroline spotted Danie apanied by two bodyguards.


    Paige clenched her teeth in anger. “What terrible luck! We run into that arrogant bitch even when


    we’re just out shopping.”


    Observing the bags in the bodyguards‘ hands, Caroline remarked, “Looks like she’s been shopping


    too.”


    Paige linked her arm with Caroline’s and hurriedly walked to the nearest maternity store. Just as they


    were selecting loose–fitting clothes, they heard Danie’s voice.


    “What a coincidence! Running into you guys here.”


    Paige was about to argue with Danie, but Caroline stopped her. “There’s no point in arguing


    with her.”


    Reluctantly, Paige held her tongue. However, Danie approached them eagerly.


    “Why are you buying clothes like these?” Danie smirked arrogantly.


    “Are you afraid of being forced to have an abortion if they find out?”


    Annoyed, Paige returned the clothes to the rack and red at Danie. “Don’t force me to publicly


    humiliate you!”


    However, Danie brushed off Paige’s words and continued to criticize Caroline.


    “These clothes aren’t cheap, but I suppose it’s only fitting. I’m sure you’ve made quite a lot of money by


    selling your body during your three–year affair with Evan.”


    Caroline shot Danie a cold re. “I guess I didn’t p you hard enough the other day. You seem


    to be itching for more, aren’t you?”


    A hint of panic flickered in Danie’s eyes before she regained herposure. “Go ahead, try


    pping me if you dare!”


    “Do the Xanders know how arrogant you are?”


    Caroline nced at the expressionless bodyguards.


    Danie chuckled and asked, “Mateo, Felix, would you testify against me?”


    “No, miss,” the two bodyguards replied in unison.


    Danie let out a burst of unscrupulousughter. “Did you hear that? Trust me, they will take


    action against you if you dare to touch me now. Tsk! Even if you identally die right now,


    nothing will happen to me.”

    “The Xander family may protect you, but Evan will despise you to the core,” Caroline replied


    calmly.
