Chapter 644 Generous Nico
Just like that, Caleb watched as the two-and-a-half million disappeared before his very eyes.
Summer was no longer a member of the Rongsler family, so she was very cold toward Caleb and paid
no heed to his furious expression.
“Caleb and Lucinda are such horrible people! It feels great to finally be free from them!” Summer
eximed with a wide smile on her face as she got into the car and headed back to the Jenson
residence.
Nico’s lips curled into a grin as well when he saw her smiling happily.
However, Summer was quick to stop smiling and instead asked worriedly, “Nico, now that my
household registry is empty, I am no different from an orphan. Would you…” Look down on me?
As though Nico could read her mind, he replied decisively, “No, I won’t. I would probably have died at
the border if my savior didn’t rescue me. I’m an orphan too, so neither of us has parents to look after.
That means we get to spend a long time together with just the two of us before we have to consider
children.”
Summer looked forward to that idea, so she wrapped her arms around his and rested her head on his
shoulder.
“You’re my savior too, Nico.”
Nico simply let her cling to him as he kept his focus on the road.
“You gave me quite the scare when you whipped out that bank card before we left the house earlier. I
thought you were actually going to give it to them!” Summer eximed.
Nico shed her a smile and said, “They abused you despite being your parents, and they had the
audacity to try and rip you off after finding out that life is finally looking good for you. I would not feel
comfortable giving such selfish people any money.
“Me too. Thank goodness we didn’t pay them anything.” Summer then looked up at him as she
continued in a coquettish tone, “But a mary gift is still a must if we are to get engaged. Now that my
household registry is no longer tied to them, you can just give me the money.”
Nico knew exactly what she was ying at, so he responded by saying, “Sure thing. I’ll even pay for
your dowry and wedding gift. However, you are still living off me right now, so I’ll hold on to that money
for you.”
Summer was speechless when she heard that.
What? How is that any different from not giving me anything?
Two dayster, Gwendolyn, Cedrick, Inez, and Kieran returned from their trip overseas and arrived at
Salinsburgh.

possible. Let’s pick out a nice date for your wedding in a couple days!”
Feeling a little shy, Inez kept her head low while following behind them.
“Since Gwenny is the head of the family, wouldn’t she have to make a trip to Faike and have a meal
with the Mossey family?” Cedrick asked after giving it some thought.
Under normal circumstances, both families would have to sit down and discuss the mary gift,
dowry, and wedding arrangements.
“Kiddo owns lots of businesses, so she might be busy. Inez and I can head over to Faike and handle
this on our own if she isn’t free,” Kieran replied.
I headed over to the Newton residence in person when Treyton and Jennifer got engaged. Faike is
quite far away from Salinsburgh, so traveling by ne is the only way to get there. I’ve been too busy
with the work at hand, so I let Kieran take care of their engagement himself instead. This wedding is
more important than the engagement. As the head of the family, I should attend the meeting personally.

With that in mind, Gwendolyn said decisively, “I’ll go. A wedding is a very important event in a person’s
life. As the head of the family, it is only natural that I be present at the family meeting to show my

Cedrick continued walking in silence while the three of them carried on with their conversation. His
eyes narrowed as a thought formed in his mind.
Gwendolyn and Kieran parted ways after exiting the airport, and the four went their separate ways.
“How many days are you nning to spend in Faike, Darling? Will you be staying in a hotel or at the
Mossey residence? Do you need me to go with you?” Cedrick asked when they got into the car
heading back to the Jenson residence.
“Jerome and Madelyn are probably going to freak out if a bigshot like you tagged along!”
Cedrick lowered his head to conceal his prating gaze as he said, “Maybe I could tag along secretly
and stay out of sight while you guys discuss the wedding arrangements. Only by being near you will my
heart feel at ease.”
Despite how serious he sounded, Gwendolyn could sense that something was off and frowned in
response.
After taking a moment to observe Cedrick’s expression, she thought of something and asked, “You’re
not nning on making a trip to the Wright residence, are you?”
Cedrick simply pursed his lips and kept quiet.
Gwendolyn did a quick calction in her head and pressed on, “Based on the day Maverick’s death
was announced, it has been almost a year and a half since youst saw Frida and Sheralyn, right?”
She then held Cedrick’s hand in hers as she continued, “I know you’re worried that I’m still traumatized
by what Frida and Sheralyn did to me in the past. You’re afraid that I’d get upset if you told me that you
wanted to go see them. I know that Frida doted on you even though she mistreated me. Even if you
aren’t the real Maverick, you have lived with her for so many years, so she is just like a mother to you.
Am I right?”
Not wanting to ruin her mood and make her feel disgusted, Cedrick tightened his grip on her hand
without saying a word.
Gwendolyn let out a sigh when she saw his response. “I made peace with them after you left a year
and a half ago. I have already let go of the grudges I had against them, so I’ll go with you if you wish to
visit them in Faike.”
Cedrick looked up at her and asked, “Really? You’ll go visit them with me?”
Gwendolyn nodded. “Yes, really.”
“Are you sure you won’t get angry at me?”
Gwendolyn let out a giggle. “I won’t.”
Not only was she not angry at Cedrick, but she even felt bad for him.
It was always the children who suffered from power struggles in wealthy families.
Cedrick had never experienced fatherly or motherly love for as long as he could remember. Even his
grandfather, whom Cedrick was closest to, never trusted him as much as he imed to.
Gwendolyn knew how rough things had been for Cedrick. His life with the Wright family was considered
fairly peacefulpared to that of the Jenson family, and Frida had provided him with the motherly
love that he needed.
The car soon pulled up inside the garage of the Jenson residence.
Upon stepping out of the car, Gwendolyn noticed another luxurious car parked next to them.
